Great for the price especially for 4K video with a high crop factor

I used this lens to shoot wide angle shots with a Nikon DSLR at a 2.25x crop factor for 4K - Make videos. With this crop, an 11mm lens (equivalent to about 25mm) really comes in handy, especially with the aperture wide open. I needed this for a very specific indoor shot where I was sitting on the floor and photographing a subject in the foreground and there was a lot going on in the background. The room was relatively dark and there wasn't enough room to add light, so a large aperture and the…

Very good lens at a lower price than a similar Nikon lens

Great lens for DX, especially considering its price. I tried the Nikon 10-24mm f/3.5-4.5G. It worked well but was very slow and seemed very expensive for its price. This Tokina is much stronger than the plastic Nikon 10-24, is much faster with a fixed maximum aperture of f/2.8 and delivers excellent performance. Despite being designed for 2/3 to 1 1/3 faster stops, Tokina images appear a bit sharper around the edges and corners, delivering an image quality that seems slightly better overall…

cute, wide and stunning in low light

I previously had a Tokina 12-24. I liked this lens, but it only worked really well in daylight. I had problems at night or in low light conditions like dinner parties etc. So I sold it and bought 11-16 for f2.8. Like the Tokina 12-24, this thing is built like a tank. The finish on November 16th. is flatter than on 12/24. I also think 11-16 feels a little lighter. Its focus ring has this amazing clutch and is very smooth. The zoom and focus rings are very tight. Like I said, the build quality is

One of my favorites

Probably one of my favorite lenses. I use it for dramatic effects, get close to the subject for a distorted or close-up image, and use it extensively for landscapes and flashes. This lens is also great for architecture and real estate. My replica of this lens is perfectly sharp at every aperture I can (unscientifically) determine. This is not a scientific assessment. There are many 5 star comments here and I agree with most if not all. I mainly use this lens on Nikon D90. It's great build…

My experience with Tokina 11-16

Note: what I posted on DPReview Like many of you I've been looking for months to find out which UWA lens I need. It was a tie between Nikon 10-24 and Tokina 11-16. I think I've read every forum and review site since both lenses came out. From my readings I have found that it depends on the quality of the lens, the camera, the user and the needs. It didn't make things any easier as many pages go back and forth on the same topic. There isn't a local camera store near me where I can test drive…

Beat a buck on a DX and get a really great lens

If you don't have a focus motor in your camera body I would recommend buying one instead of the newer version. (The only difference is the internal motor and slightly improved lens coating.) This is the lens to buy if you want to get wide-angle focal length on a fast DX body. The optics are great at such a low price - they're a lot better than Nikon's own 10-24mm and really impressive for something so cheap. It offers excellent sharpness at almost all apertures; At f/2.8 it offers good…

Great lens and Nikon competitor - just get it

This review is for the Tokina AT-X 116 Pro DX AF 11-16mm f/2.8 lens For the Nikon version of the lens. It seems Revain sometimes mixes reviews of the Nikon and Canon versions. I am a part-time professional photographer and a loyal Nikon customer. I buy Nikon because I just love this brand in all its forms. For many years I didn't want to buy lenses from other brands. Everything has changed since Tokina 11-16 2.8. In fact, I am now carefully considering alternatives to Tokina and Sigma (although
