Joy to use - Skates, Skateboards and Scooters

I am impressed with the look of this tool. I've been using an old steam iron (not steam of course) for years for my taste buds. Now that I've gotten into snowboarding, I've reviewed my setup procedures and decided to upgrade. I was embarrassed to spend so much on a tool that I might not really need, but now that the money has been spent I'm very glad I did. It's much easier to use and spreads the wax where I want it, not on the bench. I also think it holds the temperature better and it's nice…

This iron has a great design and a great price!

Although I haven't had the chance to wax a pair of skis, I turned it on and let it warm up. It quickly reaches temperature and an indicator light lets you know it's there. I'll take word from other reviewers that the temperature pretty much matches what's displayed on the dial. This is a relatively heavy unit with a thick aluminum base probably making up the majority. I like the swivel end of the cable which makes it easy to use and stand on the plastic case's two extension legs. Thanks to the…

The right tool for the job.

I was initially skeptical of some of the negative reviews about intermittent heat and poor construction and I can safely say that these people received bad hardware or something happened in shipping. This iron is amazing. I didn't want to pay $70 either, but figured I needed the right tool since I polish my skis and snowboards regularly. I can't believe I've been using old irons for so long. The skis took 5 minutes to wax, in fact it took 10 times longer for them to cool sufficiently to be…

This thing is SUPER. - Wax

In response to all the people who say you don't need an expensive wax iron or just use an old steam iron, I have to say DON'T LISTEN TO YOU. I once started using an old steam iron and thought it was awful. They are just too big and the holes keep dripping wax as they hang down. Then I bought a very cheap iron without a good metal plate on the bottom and used it for several years but couldn't get a good thin coat. wax with it I just didn't have enough heat to heat the board and apply a thin…

Excellent waxing iron, best accessory

Best waxing iron I have ever used. I had a Swix T74 iron prior to purchasing this iron, while the T74 works well in warm weather and with "universal" paraffins can't stay hot enough for paraffins in cold weather. I even won a Wintersteiger digital iron a week after buying a Toko T8 and I still love this iron. The grooves on the Toko T8 plate really help distribute the wax across the base of the ski, no more greasy streaks where it drips onto the base but good even coverage. It has been able to…

Great hardware!: Accessory

This year I decided to start hot waxing our skis after having used a simple wax paste for the past few years. I considered using a cheap iron but finally decided on this iron after reading ski waxing information and reviews of several ski hangers. The key points of this iron for me are the nice thick soleplate - almost 1/2 inch thick which helps to keep the heat even when the iron's thermostat is cycling. It also has a good temperature range of 90°C to 160°C. There are also min/max settings but
