Son-in-law avid skier delighted!

Bought for my son in law for Christmas and he loves it! He, my daughter and grandchildren all ski so you get very used to it and no problem!

The thicker the plate, the better

Stamping on the cheap Swix. A thicker plate retains heat better. Digital is better than an estimating pin for temperature control. I also think it's 2 times more watts. Too bad I ordered it years ago.

Pros
  • Robust workmanship
Cons
  • Little things

Works best for skateboarding

Works much better than a recycled iron. No wax smoking, no constantly fiddling with inefficient temperature controls. Seemed to hold the temperature well when the wax ran out. Buy once, cry once - you should have upgraded your iron years ago.

Pros
  • Decent performance
Cons
  • Not bad

Easy to adjust wax iron

Huge improvement over my old iron. The digital display makes pairing the iron with the "Iron Temperature" displayed on the Swix waxes very easy. The heavy iron holds the heat well and I can melt the wax with a slow pull of the iron (about 15 seconds). The wax melts, but the bottom of the ski just feels warm.

Pros
  • Great price
Cons
  • Hard to say

Love the feel of skates, skateboards and scooters

Received this iron today. I only paid $71, I think there was a typo in the price. Love the feel, the digital tuning and the wax channels underneath. The only thing missing is an on/off button. This device must be unplugged to cool down completely. never mind I can't think of a better iron for everyday use.

Cons

The new digital iron is much better. The form is much easier to use.

We sold an old triangular iron for waxing. This worked well, but the square edges didn't adhere well to the hardened paraffin droplets on the first pass. The new digital iron is much better. The shape is much more comfortable to use when I have several skis next to each other and the edges are rounded to bridge the roughness of the drops of wax. The iron reaches its temperature very quickly and keeps it constant. I don't have any wax fumes now, but the wax melts easily. Now waxing is faster and

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design
Cons
  • There are doubts

I bought this iron to shrink fabric on the airplane fuselage. The temperature of the iron should be reasonably accurate. Aside from the dial feature for setting the temperature, which feels cheap or like I've rewound a clock, the physical construction and feel of the iron was impressive. The worst aspect of this iron is that it never got anywhere near the advertised temperature. (100 to 160 degrees C) I used a high quality digital laser thermometer for testing. 55 degrees Celsius is the limit…

Pros
  • Excellent overall performance
Cons
  • Crumpled packaging

Best Budget Digital Iron for Oiling Cross Country Skis

If you love cross country skiing, a cheap iron from Swix, Toko or [misc. postage stamps]. They're functional and work well enough for softer waxes or something as cold as blue. However, if you're working with a harder wax, you're likely wasting a lot of wax, time, and energy trying to apply it to the ski. That's because economy wax sheets are thinner, lose heat quickly, and are difficult to measure. I've spent the better part of 15 years getting by with this type of iron and while it…

Solid and accurate on wax

I have this Toko T14 for shrinking aircraft fabric so temperature control and accuracy are important to me. The device I received was the (correct) US version. Since there are several reviews here that swear by the temperature control, the first thing I did was measure the temperature myself. Note. I've seen several reviews here that said their electronic non-contact (IR) thermometers read low temperatures and they assumed they had faulty units. It's important to realize that unless you have an
