Better than NAV in my 2005 Accord Ex

Right out of the box the unit was able to track satellites and set itself; I was 5 meters from the window. I won't go into all the specifics, but there were definitely a few things that I thought worked well for me. It worked right out of the box, better than the navigation box my wife had on her previous contract. Once I got stuck in traffic, hit a block 100 meters ahead and the device quickly found an alternative route, bypassing the roadblock. Estimated elapsed time and arrival time were…

A great GPS that does what it's supposed to do while being flawless. Clear, easy-to-read display and instructions. The menus and interface are so intuitive that you can just turn them on and use them. No downloads, activations or training required. Satellite acquisition takes just a few seconds, and recalculating if you miss a turn or direction is just as quick. Accuracy is impressive with precise directions and updated maps. Even small roads in the countryside are recognized and marked. After…

Better than Garmin Street Pilot

I bought my son a Garmin StreetPilot for Christmas and it has really made his and my life a lot easier. But I found this block too big and didn't like the voice prompts for turns. So I bought this device. It's smaller and more portable, which is important to me since I mainly fly and drive. I like the voice prompts on the TomTom better than the Garmin. I didn't miss a corner with the TomTom while I struggled with the Garmin. As others have said, the desktop interface is seriously lacking, but…

TomTom One rules! The best in GPS, finders and accessories

Just bought a TT1 from Revain (10/22/07, $200) and have tried most of the features and a few 'city trips' so far. First off, the TT1 I got from Revain was the "New Edition". I was concerned about what edition I would actually get because I couldn't find any information on the Revain website, so I was happy with this part. The only "problem" I had was syncing with TomTom HOME. When you connect a device via USB for the first time and HOME starts (or sometimes it doesn't) you will be asked if you…

Great GPS with some minor flaws

Overall this is a fantastic GPS for the money. It is relatively small and can easily be carried in a pocket or purse. There is no external antenna that could be folded out to improve reception. The most important thing about a GPS device is its ability to quickly find a signal and get to the places you want. In that regard, this device is just great. GPS signal acquisition time is approximately less than 30 seconds. It features one of the new SIRF III chipsets, which is very important to get a…

Very poor navigation, otherwise nice features

I recommend avoiding the TomTom One. It gives incorrect or at best misleading instructions almost every time I've used it for the last 4 days. TomTom One is easy to use, intuitive and has a lot of nice features. But the all-important routing algorithm needs serious improvement. I haven't used other GPS devices, but Mapquest, Google Maps and other internet services are much more accurate than TomTom. One day I ended up in the wrong state! Sometimes the directions lead me there, but I take the…
