Very nice addition to my kitchen

I really like this set of knives, especially after having cheap plastic cutlery in my kitchen for the last 20 years. Not to mention my old knife set, it got the job done, but this set has added a whole new level of sophistication to my cooking and speeded up my process. I particularly like the santoku knives in this set and the paring knife. Alton Brown's YouTube video showed me how to use the Edge Maintain Tool and it works great to make it work properly. Hand wash every time and almost 6…

No rust after 24 hour test

These knives are strong and sharp and I'm so impressed I'm putting another set on my shopping list. The only downside I have is that I don't have enough steak knives, but I just wash them in hot vinegar water and then dry them anyway. I wouldn't wash them in the dishwasher, but I put them to the test of the day, soaking the pair in water overnight and then laying them out on a mat to dry. There was no soaking rust so I didn't hand dry them thinking the rust would show if they air dried. It…

Buy it or regret it

I like things that work and don't break the bank. I didn't have a lot of money to spend on knives, but I wanted a slightly more expensive set from Target. I don't remember if I read about it before buying it. So scissors work great, easy to clean and durable. Steak knives are great. Skim the meat and fingertips if you're not careful. The remaining blades are very good and take a long time to sharpen. I use them a lot and couldn't be happier with this set. The only thing I rarely use is a bread…

Pros
  • Always liked it
Cons
  • No insurance

Yes I had a whole set of very expensive Wüsthof Culinar PEteck knives because I thought they were a lot better than anything. In fact, the name of the brand says nothing, a good knife is sharp, stays sharp (longer than cheap knives), doesn't rust or discolor, and the handle is heavy and (ideally) hooks in one piece with the blade. . The Wüsthof didn't really stay sharp and the grips were hollow, but otherwise it was ok if not a little bland on the styling side. They were stolen by friends who…

Pros
  • Great selection
Cons
  • Not as good as it says

I understand that some are skeptical when it comes to a brand that many people know with more well-known knives such as Heckles, Wüsthof, Global , to compare. etc. may not have heard of Master Cutlery's Top Chef line. But I will do it anyway. I also understand that even brands with the best reputations have lines that are "more affordable" to them and so may not be the best barometer of comparison if you've never owned a number of their best lines. The knives range from dozens, rather, to…

When Twin JA Henckel's Twin Signature Cutlery (Revain, $369.99) wrote and performed an '80s rock ballad for one of the new and proud owners of the Top Chef Master Cutlery ($110.76 , Revain) it would be something like: Well I heard it on the street, I heard you could find someone new, yeah, well, who is he, baby, who is he and tell me what he's for Means you, oh yeah I took it all for granted But how did I know you'd let go Now it cuts like a knife But it feels so right Yes it cuts like a knife…
