Gave up unit and sent it back

I had high hopes that I could keep this AC3150 router running and not have to deal with the same problems others are having. But no. The 5GHz band disappears and is not visible to devices that require a router reboot (not just a reboot, but a reset) to fix the issue. This is my second AC3150, the first was a V1 which broke after a year and was unresponsive. I was hoping V2 would fix the issues but apparently not. I called TP-Link support to discuss the 5GHz band dropout, but the support rep…

Edit Died two days later! Update after 2 months.

After two days of use the router died, I did a full factory reset and still no connection to the 2.4 band. Technical support is terrible. ****First Review*** I switched from TP-Link C7 to this A3150 to get the best 5G band for 4K TV in my home. I only have a 1500 square foot house and the wire mesh would be too murderous. I was able to deactivate my old router and install a new one with the same SSIDs in less than an hour. All but one of my devices connect with no issues. One needed a reboot…

Yes, it works great! (Verizon user: read review)

As said above it works great and the range is fantastic as I have a lot of questions I want answered before I buy. Sorry I'm advanced, I'll be a bit verbose, but I hope this helps you =) Apart from that, I have gigabyte FiOS service and I've had huge speed drops with fios wifi routers. Out of the box (past the router and directly with the short 5e cable) I got (according to Verizon's speed test) about 960 down and 880 up. It's great. However, using their WiFi router and literally 10 feet away…

Loses IP after power failure

How incompetent do you have to be to build a router that loses its own IP address after a power failure and falls back to the default IP address? My 10 year old tp-link wireless that I paid $20 for will keep its IP, why can't it be that much more expensive? Also, I set everything up, hooked up my wireless security cameras (which is always a problem), and then found that they had very old firmware, so I updated the router. And it erased all my settings so I had to do it all over again. Again…

Decent range - decent user interface

Got it on sale with a super discount. Thought it would give me more range and better coverage. This gave a little more range, but not as much as I thought. It's pretty easy to use and has some nice features, like the ability to create groups of devices and control when they're used, and setting web filters. In other words, I can create a group for son #1, add his iPhone, iPad, Chromebook, Nintendo Switch to that group and set his wifi time from 8:00 AM to 11:00 PM. For son #2, I create another…

So I'm sending these back.

I bought this router along with several other models and it gave me the best range/speed. I didn't like the fact that you can only sign in individually if you had the TP Link app open on your phone and the web browser was also open on the computer, so you're signed out of both. first logged in. In addition, the application and the web browser do not have the same functions. Which isn't too rare, but the app has features that I would have liked to see in a browser. Everything worked fine for the

Excellent range and performance as advertised.

I was looking for a replacement for my Netgear N600, which I deleted after 10 years of brave service. This router lived up to the reputation and reviews of the TP-Link brand. I deduct 1 star for the flashing that resets the password after I threw away the paper with the factory settings. Benefits1. Super easy setup. Had it up and running in less than 10 minutes.2. Android app (Tether) is a great interface for monitoring the network and changing settings.3. The 2G range is amazing. Covers my…

Good wireless performance and range, poor printer and customer support

Router is easy to set up, has good performance and range. However, connecting my Brother HL3170CDW printer to the USB port does not work. Note that this is a popular printer and it worked great with my old ASUS AC1900 wireless router. I checked their website for support but their list of compatible printers is over 2 years old. The USB installation instructions on the AC3150 V2 page are for older routers. I could not find any instructions for this router. I used the chat function on the TP Link

Pros
  • Sleek design
Cons
  • Poor repairability

Don't expect anything from support. I had a V2 router and my 2.4GHz band wasn't working properly. I was sent a replacement V1 and was told I didn't need the V2 and it doesn't matter although the feature set and firmware are different. The last TP-Link product I will ever buy. I feel cheated. The TP-Link site also said that the price is the same for V1 and V2. They really aren't the same at all. I've never had such a bad experience where an agent just tells me to take care of it more or less and
