Not a bad router - setup is a bit questionable.

The router came with instructions to resolve a situation I encountered that required MAC address cloning for the ISP. There is a CAT 5 cable included but I actually needed two, one to connect the router to the ISP modem. , and the other from the router to my laptop so I can set the parameters for wifi. The CD that came with it did NOT work with my Windows 7 operating system. I ended up just opening a browser window and typing in the router's URL and it opened up right away! I used the defaultโ€ฆ

Not up to shabby! in Networking Products

Did I misspell "Shabby"? I rarely use that word. In any case. I was very impressed with the TP LINK TL-WR914ND. My biggest criticism has to be the setup. Which, frankly, is my own stupidity. I spent (literally) 3 hours setting up this thing when all I had to do was plug it in! I bought it because my apartment doesn't have a router or modem. All direct internet connections are upstairs in my landlord's house. I recently bought a (slightly temperamental) MagicJack Plus and wanted to use it as aโ€ฆ

Installation couldn't be easier

Installation was surprisingly easy. I have to admit that I definitely expected replacing my dead 4 year old Linksys router would be an all day problem. The reality is that the included instructions and small software CD made me feel like a tech wizard. Luckily I didn't have the issues mentioned by other reviewers like the MAC address issue or anything else. It also appears that after just a day of use, the stability of the router will not require an almost daily horrible reset process. Theโ€ฆ

Works well in a 2 story house

I've had a router for about 2 years. It's still going strong! Prior to this purchase, I had a constant problem with the signal going upstairs to downstairs in my two story townhouse. This router has provided a strong signal throughout my house (2000 square feet) so far. I also get an excellent signal on the patio and in the backyard. Very good! I use it with Apple TV to stream movies and it works great. I use iPad and Windows laptops with no disconnects or noticeable slowdowns. Others who visit

Excellent budget router

I bought this to replace a fairly new Linksys E2500 which disappointed me with the wireless N performance. It gives me a much better signal around the house, higher wireless throughput and a wireless network with significantly lower latency (70-100 ms ping on linksys vs. 40 ms ping on tp-link). I updated the firmware before setting it up with my Comcast with no problems. The modem seems to work well (WAN syncs quickly with the modem, wireless/local connection works well and fast, upnp worksโ€ฆ

It's okay if you upgrade, but it may take a while.

I was very excited about this router considering all the good things I've heard about it. I've been trying for a month but it still didn't work the way I would like. Let me share my concerns about this product: 1) Mac users: Please note that performance can sometimes be an issue with a MacBook. It took me a while to contact tech support to find out that the specific configuration is called "WMM" which may need to be disabled from the router's admin page. However, the performance of my MacBookโ€ฆ

Good gear but difficult to manage with offshore support

. I bought this for our kindergarten which is in the same building as our church. It's a large metal building with metal spikes and I was looking for a device with multiple external antennas. A multiple antenna is designed to help with reflections that occur when radio waves bounce off building walls and metal frames and arrive at the device out of phase. An external antenna should also increase the range, and since it was a large building, I got by with just one device. The package arrived inโ€ฆ
