I bought three of these little devices. We upgraded our home WiFi system with the ORBI Mu-Mimo mesh router system and our older laptops didn't have AC wireless cards. -mimo runs seamlessly with the router to get the most out of our system and WOW amazing difference. It's really plug and play. Very happy oh and we bought another one for our son (from Fry) as he upgraded his house with the same ORBI system.

I have another similar USB-AC1200 with 2 large antennas that works a little better the further away I am from my router. In most rooms in my house, this works equally well on the 2.4 and 5 GHz bands. In the furthest corners of my house, this works just as well as the 2.4GHz antenna model, but performance drops at 5GHz. This is true as is 5GHz when going through walls and objects. Works great! Easy to install if you have basic computer skills and can follow the on-screen instructions. Leave the installation disc in your computer before and after connecting the USB port (from start to finish) - even if you are prompted to remove all discs. You apparently meant "other" disks, since the installation cannot proceed without the installation disk in the computer. Updated 6/17/2018. Downgraded the rating from 5 to 3 stars. Unfortunately, this device does not support "roaming" between hotspots. This means that if the signal strength of the access point it is connected to decreases and there is a strong access point nearby, it will not automatically connect to a strong access point. This is an issue when using a MESH network. I called TPLINK support and they confirmed that roaming is not supported. It's a shame I didn't throw the packaging away so quickly.
