broke his elbow

If you plan to fall on a hard surface instead of a bed, they are useless. If I were stupid enough I would try to sue someone. However, do yourself a favor and get some hard pads if you're going to BMX (or skate) at the skate park.

Pros
  • Great for outdoor activities
Cons
  • The cord is shorter than others

Great for preventing scratches

I bought these for my 16 year old who is still learning to skateboard. They're great for preventing road rashes if he's just doing it on the road. I would recommend some of the more protective Triple 8 gear for vert and more advanced road riding.

Pros
  • Great overall performance
Cons
  • Minor issues

Just what I wanted in sport

Me and my 14 year old wear a medium size. We're not big guys. My 12 year old needs a small one. As others have pointed out, the pads are as thin/hidden as one could make a pad and still call it "filling". Haven't gotten them on the floor yet but I'm sure it will be better than no pads at all. They are quite comfortable and well made. This fall we will be using them under MX jerseys and maybe pants (knee pads).

  • Certified
Cons
  • Nothing here

I liked them so much I bought a second pair!

I liked them so much I bought a second pair! They don't move, they're unobtrusive, I can wear them under long sleeves if needed. They cover the elbows a little higher and a little lower, if it's too hot I tuck in both ends. I wear others that I've really liked but can't find my size (xs) - they were $29.99 so I searched and found these. Can't beat the price. Def is recommended to anyone who needs elbow protection during sports and/or physical activities!

Pros
  • Great build
Cons
  • Negative gift

Just enough for one wheel.

They are perfect for off-road touring with my Onewheel. I fell on my elbows several times. With them I use Triple 8 wrist guards and knee pads. The perfect protection for me. Maybe not enough protection for ramping or high speeds, but it will definitely help. I love how unobtrusive these pads are. Just a note, if you're on the limit of sizes, be sure to go up a size. If you stretch these pads too much, they may tear in places sooner rather than later. My knee pads are showing signs of this.

Pros
  • Weight
Cons
  • I don't like anything about it, everything is fine

Barely Padded: Elbow Pads

I understand they're 'hidden' but still they offer little to no protection. It may be enough to prevent a small impact on the road, but it doesn't absorb impact. The fit is also a bit different, I ordered a large but may need a medium. except that it felt pretty tight on my forearm, but completely loose on my shoulder, so I suspect the medium may have been too tight on my forearm at the time. Overall, I think I'll have to switch to another model with adjustable straps and accept that functional

Pros
  • Decent Performance
Cons
  • Only Available in Black

Comfortable, Large

Like the Triple 8 Covert Knee Pads, they are comfortable pads that do not restrict movement and are relatively breathable. They consist of an elastic fabric tube to which a soft pad is sewn. They're fairly flexible and offer, I'd say, average protection (they're not heavy, but they hold the skin and can prevent bruising). Unlike knee pads, they are large. I bought a medium size (which should fit an 8-10 inch elbow circumference): it was about 10 inches in circumference and was really loose at…

Pros
  • Enjoyable
Cons
  • Translucent

Effective for low impact street/park riding

I'll start by saying I'm a 'mature' skateboarder in my thirties. I bought these pads after an elbow injury that left me very sensitive to a light tap on my elbow. I bought these pads to use when street skateboarding or at the skate park. I am happy to report that they are effective in relieving the pain I experience from falling and rolling on my elbows. I will say that these pads are effective when you fall on a flat surface or roll on a flat railing or ledge. I wouldn't expect these pads to…
