Great display extension product

We bought this great Dell OptiPlex Micro 7040 for our President but he wanted to run 3 monitors in extended mode. Dell has a display port and an HDMI connector, so we got this splitter to split the display port between two monitors and it works great on Windows 7 Pro. We also have a DVI version in our lab for cloning stereo head-up displays (HMD) onto two monitors to verify what participants are seeing, and that works great too. Sturdy construction that will last.

Pros
  • Monitor(s) can be positioned up to 35ft from the splitter
Cons
  • This is driving me nuts

I was happy to purchase this adapter although it is expensive to allow my laptop to run two of my Asus Pro Art monitors (great monitors) through a digital connection. That does not work. Tripp Lite tried to help with repairs but got nothing and has now invested $250 in worthless gear. I suppose I can try to return, but I've lost the time and it's probably too late (the problem with buying online is the return process). Started with enthusiasm and ended in complete disappointment.

Pros
  • Weight
Cons
  • Some small things

Doesn't always work in mirror mode

I bought this so we could run two identical monitors (in different locations) using the same DisplayPort on my (November 2013) Windows 7 Professional computer. We've found that the default (and apparently only) mode of operation is "Extended Mode", which makes our two 1920 x 1080 monitors look like a logical 3840 x 1080 monitor. So this works great if that's what you want. Our PC can do that itself with two DisplayPort outputs, in this case this box is not needed. Apparently there is no switch,

Pros
  • Good to use
Cons
  • old

May not work as expected

A user at my workplace wanted to add a third monitor to their new Dell Precision 5810 Tower. The installed nVidia Quadro K620 graphics card has both DVI and DP outputs, so a 2-way splitter like an MST hub should have sufficed for this scenario: one monitor on DVI, 2 on one MST hub. The monitors we tried on the hub were identical to the ViewSonic 2446 - not exactly top-notch monitors, but they get the job done. Unfortunately the MST hub model I was working with (Tripp Lite DP on 2xDVI) justโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Nice packaging
Cons
  • Can't remember
