Worked well with the Thunderbolt to FireWire Adapter

Used this to connect my Mini DV Canon camcorder to the Thunderbolt port (via the Apple Thunderbolt to FireWire Adapter). This helped me backup my DV videos to my hard drive (via my wife's MacBook Air with Thunderbolt port).

Pros
  • Nice
Cons
  • functionality

Worked great with Legacy 2012 Mac Pro and Canopus/Grass Valley ADVC-300. Canopus ADVC-300 originally shipped with FireWire 400, Apple discontinued FireWire 400 around 2008. This cable solved the problem of using a Mac Pro only with FireWire 800. The cable worked great.

Pros
  • GOLS Certified
Cons
  • Flawed

It works to extract video from old camcorders

I was able to use it to extract several hours of video from my old camcorder before recycling it easily. It worked very reliably with no crashes or other issues. I had no idea how much my kids used the camcorder when they were little, it led to hours of conversation with everyone laughing at how weird they were when they were younger.

Pros
  • Wide range
Cons
  • Almost everything is here

The camera was not recognized with this brand of cable.

I usually have success with this brand but not with this particular cable. I bought to connect my Canon ZR800 camcorder to my iMac. iMovie can't see the camera. I switched to a different brand of cable and it was recognized immediately. Not sure if the pin configuration is wrong as stated in the previous review, but this cable has limited application. You are at risk if you try this cable.

Decently built and true to advertised length.

Needed to control the transport of an old SONY camera. the best choice. It worked well. However, finding a good program was a challenge. In the end I used HDVsplit. Before blaming the connection, you should know that the official software for these cameras lost compatibility some time ago. Haven't tried it with any NLE yet, but I'm pretty sure connectivity won't be an issue.

Pros
  • Not cheap but decent
Cons
  • Makes me angry

Worked for the first time with my old Sony TRV900 camera and Apple Lightning to FireWire Adapter and iMovie. All videos were excellent. Very easy. This adapter and cable combo doesn't work on my Windows 10 Bootcamp partition, but I didn't expect it to work based on what I've read. The problem isn't with the Firewire cable, it's that Apple doesn't provide a driver for Windows. But now that the files are loaded onto the Mac drive, I can edit them however I want.

Pros
  • Computers and Accessories
Cons
  • Big and Bulky

Worked very well. at Computer Accessories & Peripherals

I needed this cable to capture old video from a Sony Hi-8 camcorder. This thing saved the day! I connected it to the camera, then to an Apple Firewire dongle for Thunderbolt (Series 2), then an Apple Thunderbolt (Series 2) dongle for Thunderbolt (Series 3, USB-C) to my Windows 10 laptop with Thunderbolt /USB. -C connector. I couldn't believe it actually worked! No problem. I spent way more on Apple Keys than this cable. If you have ports or keys to connect to, data will be transferred. In any…

Excellent Sony 8mm TRV350 to iMac cable

I bought a used TRV350 Sony 8mm camcorder on April 18th, I am converting 8mm tape to digital. first to an old Apple G4 power supply with a FireWire 400 cable, which worked fine but filled the drive. All the features of 1394b - control the camcorder from the keyboard. Stop playback and rewind and it works fine. If you have an older 8mm video, the video is slightly better than the Kennedy video, still fond memories. I first tried the cable on my iMac 09 which didn't seem to fit FireWire 800, but…
