606 Meets Arkansas Specification

This product was ordered because it meets Arkansas specifications for Nursing Home Surge Protectors. Unfortunately I received a model 1008, an excellent product but the manufacturer's specs say 4000V throughput. It will be returned.

Well made, hard wearing

I've stumbled upon a few of these over the last few months replacing all my old plastic power strips after a couple of failures. Coincidentally, my employer also uses Tripp Lite strips for all of our office devices. The housings are all metal, the plug itself is made of durable plastic and will catch the plug. Thankfully I haven't tested their surge resistance, but I hope the exterior craftsmanship is an indication of the overall quality of the product.

Pros
  • Easy to use

Good article, rich in accessories and consumables

Bought this extension for my fridge. When I got home one night I found that my 2 year old fridge wasn't working. The fridge is one of those electronic control boxes and we think the power outage has knocked it out of sync. The power strip is the largest surge protector I could find that fits in a closet. Also, it's a metal device, which might not be a big deal, but it speaks volumes to me. The icing on the cake would be a 90 degree AC plug, but you can't have everything.

Pros
  • GOLS certified
Cons
  • Not as thick as other picks

I like that it's metal and not plastic

However, it's not perfect. It has no covers to cover unused sockets and no flat plug. I would rate it 5 stars if it had these 2 things. I couldn't tell what kind of plug it was from the photo when I ordered it. (I uploaded one myself). I use TrippLite for my home PC and I've been using the metal Tripplite Isobar at work for 15 years - it's weathered many storms and continues to connect. This is a metal surge protector and looks very well made and sturdy. From what I've read online the joule…

Best Fit Metal Surge Protector Enclosure

I recently threw away all the plastic surge protector enclosures in my house. The problem is that if the surge is strong enough, the internal components get very hot and can potentially melt and become a fire hazard. Therefore, a metal case is the best option. These Tripp Lite strips come with straight forks, which is fine, but I wanted an angled fork so I could mount them behind furniture. So I replaced the plug with a Legrand - Pass & Seymour 4867ANWCC10 15A heavy duty industrial grade right…

Metal that looks and feels like plastic

Quite annoying: The metal casing of this surge protector looks, feels and sounds like plastic. The only way to know if it's metal is to use a magnet. WHY? Years later, when the house will only have a surge protector, who will remember it's metal? Do we need to check them all with a magnet? Pretty much everyone who chooses this surge protector is paying too much because they want a metal body - would it kill them to want to make it a little more obvious? Why make a metal surge protector with a…

The best of its kind, but without a metal base.

Really wanted an all-metal bandpass filter, but couldn't find one with a metal bottom (the plastic bottom could melt/ignite if overloaded). All sides are metal and the bottom is plastic. The best I could find (studied many others that were of dubious quality and/or insufficient features). Benefits -1. Well-known, trusted brand (don't trust my safety to unknown brands).2. Separate devices for protection and grounding.3. Resettable circuit breaker inside.4. Disabling the stripe when removing…
