Good device, wrong dimensions

I use Tripp Lite for all my important electronic devices as many of their models have the best protection features of any brand I know. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt as I haven't had a major lightning strike or other surge event that really tested them. It's worth noting that the product dimensions in both this Revain listing and in Tripp Lite's own product description are incorrect - this TLP1208TELTV model actually measures approximately 4-3/4" wide x 11-7/8". "Long x 1-3/4" deep…

The best surge protectors were created.

20 years ago I bought 6 of these Tripp Lite models for myself and friends as gifts. As far as I remember they sold for about $18 with a huge discount. At that time, dial-up Internet was still alive for many people. To be honest, each of these surge protectors are still in use today. All of them. I've been asked several times over the years if they need to be replaced because they're so old, and I've been told that all surge protectors "wear out" over time. Garbage. Trip Lites are not. I still…

Difficult to insert some wide end plugs but otherwise great

I had to replace an outdated surge protector and this fits just right. The plugs fit as expected; I bought this on purpose because of the long distance on one side so I no longer have to block the outlets I need. The only difficulty I had was that some of the end caps were very difficult to insert from the wide side and at first I thought they were stuck. I almost got it back and then got a last minute nudge with power so I tried the first super hard and it eventually let the fork in but it…

Pros

Cons
  • Small things

Get Tripp Lite and never worry about it again.

Did you know that most extension cords are not rated for high current surges? Did you know that external lightning strikes can propagate through coax and telephone cables? Did you know that the MFG warranty does not cover lightning damage? Did you know that most power strips lose their protective function with age? I've seen these things fail in floods, storms, and all kinds of conditions. but when *they* fail, they make sure your equipment doesn't get damaged. And guess what, either way, you…

Pros
  • Just like everyone else
Cons
  • Hard to tell

Did you know that MFG's warranty does not cover lightning damage? Did you know that most power strips lose their protective function with age? I've been using Tripp Lite since my first job in IT over 25 years ago when it came with a lifetime warranty. they are serious. I've seen these things fail in floods, storms, and all…

12 outlets, 9 operational = dissatisfied

Firstly I still need to "free" at least two of the sliding protective caps although I doubt this would be difficult with a three pronged lever adaptor. Most importantly, there are no signs of the obvious plastic injection molding problems mentioned below. I'm giving one star for that, but I hope the quality of the products improves. New surge protectors can often break a bit due to the tight fit of the plugs and adapters, but mine arrived with THREE outlets that were completely unusable as the…

Very large surge protector with plenty of room, but read on below!

FIRST - YES, IT IS VERY DIFFICULT TO CONNECT DEVICES TO THIS NETWORK DEVICE. But there is a way to fix this. It is very difficult to connect something to this surge protector for the first time. But once that initial resistance collapses, future plugins are very easy! I strongly recommend (before using a surge protector) to plug your own 3 prong cable into each outlet until the plug's initial resistance is broken. I found it easier to break the resistance by wiggling the connector back and…

Best Budget Surge Protector Tripp Lite

Pros: - Price - Tripp Lite Guarantee (details below) - Multiple connectors specifically for power supplies - Has a higher joule rating than any other What I say about this Price Cons: - Ports can be VERY tight at first, but once used they are much easier to work with - No USB ports I won't be buying any other brand again. I used to work in TV and laptop retail and one of my jobs was selling accessories. I wanted to make more money (and keep my job), but I also wanted to do my best for the…
