This strap is definitely more durable than the original Tomta strap. It just seems thicker and more reliable. However, a real tom tom does not sit completely in the strap like a tom tom strap. I had no problems with this as the "loose" part fits snugly on your wrist but is clearly not OEM. However, the reason I'm throwing it in the trash is because the "loop" that the ribbon goes through is pointed. You can see what I'm talking about in the Amazon picture. I was upset when my original strap broke and worse, TomTom didn't have an OEM replacement available. So I bought this out of the blue but I have to say I'm happy with it and more importantly it didn't break. I liked the original cap better, but I'm used to it. I wish it was longer - I have a larger male wrist and usually only have half an inch (3 holes) left to try and fit the case. and it doesn't fit into the charger as neatly as the original, but I'm used to it. This is actually the second of these bands I've bought. If I wear them daily, they last about six months or so, which is about as long as the strap that comes with it. This option is cheaper than buying through TomTom. I will say the strap fits but I think it is slightly smaller in wrist size terms than the original TomTom strap that originally came with it. If you are tired of paying $30 for a tom tom strap that only lasts 6 months this is the one Alternative You've Been Waiting For. Durability is still unclear but at this price point it should only take 3 months to beat an expensive tom tam strap that keeps breaking. As mentioned, it doesn't fit perfectly and the square function button is a little harder to press down. But overall it's much better than the tomtom version in terms of price and features.
