Difficult to install but will save you a trip to the dealer

These filters seem to be working fine in my Mazda 5 Van. The big problem is that Mazda placed them under the dashboard on the passenger side of the car. You literally have to be a body acrobat to change them. I've found some decent videos showing how to do it, but it's extremely fiddly to get to the right place and install them. You kind of have to reach over your head, lying on your side halfway in and out of the door, and then blindly loosen the screws and pull out the old filters. You thenโ€ฆ

Cons
  • Something is wrong

A good filter needs better control.

Unfortunately I didn't unpack this item until I had the dashboard half apart. I removed my old OEM filter and then opened a new filter. It looked fine in the sealed bag, but then I found that the adhesive from the foam strip at the top of the top filter had stuck to the plastic wrap. I had to cut it carefully. In the process, I lost some of the foam itself (see photos of a real new filter with foam rubber torn off and packaging with foam stuck to it). The filter should still work fine, butโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Removes nearly 100% of exhaust fumes and airborne contaminants
Cons
  • Infinitely sluggish

It was very well made and had a foam strip on the top seam just like the OEM filter. However, the filters were made with fewer pleats and the pleats don't look perfect out of the box. I could try to physically straighten them but didn't want to risk damaging them. TIPS: You don't need to unplug the two electrical connectors in the side panel. Just dangle it as it's light enough. I didn't use a short Phillips screwdriver because the one I had was smaller than the screw head and could haveโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Keeps you and your passengers clean; recommended change interval: every 20,000 km
Cons
  • Not as good as advertised

The guy who designed this filtration system should be arrested.

This cabin filter system was designed by a sadist. Unless you weigh 100 pounds, are 5 feet 2 inches tall and look like a skinny kid, this filter will take years to install. from your life. Step 1 - Destroy any ligaments in your shoulder that will require years of chiropractic work for the rest of your life by attempting to remove 4 screws. The top right screw is the most dangerous. As soon as I figured it out I threw it in the trash because it's not going back. Step 2 - Disconnect the heaterโ€ฆ
