Thin metal on spare tire holders

The steel on this holder is thin metal. 30 ft. lbs., per instructions. I did this and the metal plate flexed so much it wrapped around the Trailer bumper wrapped and the lock washers didn't work properly.I only suggest you tighten it until there is no play.in the bumper bracket.I ended up not mounting my tire on these but used some of the parts that mine old one (which has a better construction) did not have.

Not intended for original use

The only thing missing from my 81 CJ7 is a fold-out tire carrier. I've looked and looked at many different jeep sites and either they have stopped making them or they want a lot of money for what they are. I've been looking everywhere on Revain for one that I could afford and just a week ago I came across this one which is rated for a 6" RV bumper. My bumper is handmade and 7 inches wide. While I can't get all 4 bolts in, I also plan to install 2 bolts and weld the plate to the bumper. I can't…

Pros
  • Sturdy, powder-coated steel construction
Cons
  • No power

Still works great. Just need some quality control

I bought this to use with my camper trailer to have a second spare as I needed it earlier. In general, the appearance is pretty much the same as the original. I became suspicious when I saw how wide the mounting hole was drilled. As an engineer, that worries me. It looks bad, but it also compromises the integrity of the structure. It is drilled far from the center. I'll give it an update after I get it on the road in a couple of weeks. 04/14/2019. Holds up great! Still disappointed with the…

The structure of the holder is simple and inexpensive.

Very easy to attach to a standard 4" x 4" camper bumper. But the bumper on my camper was a bit wider on one side and much narrower on the other. Simply drilling holes in the carrier mount is one size larger than the C-clamp screw that holds the carrier to the bumper that wraps around the bumper and it fits, but the C-clamp thread was for a 4" wide bumper so I did just added a piece of wood to the width of the bumper to make the c-clamp fit for purpose. The strength of this product is as good as

Looks like it will do the job

Just installed and so far so good. a storage door or something. I don't need it, but it's nice to have that option. the old one, which is a square tube. I like that the part where the tire attaches is attached to the main part with bolts rather than welds as my old one was welded on and the welding failed. all nuts up to 30 ft.lbs. I dropped the U-bolts under 30 ft lbs because it was the metal plate shown in the attached picture. I think the plate that the U-bolts attach to should be a little…

Good but not perfect for my needs

I installed it on my Casita caravan to remove the new 15" spare from the rear bumper where it presses against the fiberglass body of the trailer. The easy installation of this tire holder is very easy, but I have two complaints. 1) If all the bolts are tight and the part is installed as instructed, the holder will wiggle significantly (I can put pressure on the tire and the entire arm of the holder rotates left and right. The edge of my 225/75R15 will move during this Turning about half an inch

POOR CONSTRUCTION MAKES THING POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS

Bought to replace the original which broke after a few years and what a disappointment. The vertical post on this unit is just a piece of cheap stamped C section with panels welded on at the ends and center to add a bit of integrity. The OLD was solid square tubing and much more durable. The integrity and durability of this carrier is questionable as the tire wobbles violently at the slightest impact. At least the hardware seemed sufficient. With such a load, the device will soon fail, which…
