For me the cap that came on the drain plug also unscrewed the drain plug making it all one big drain plug. I couldn't tighten the drain plug enough that it wouldn't leak and stay in place when I unscrewed the cap. The product will work as intended, but in practice it will be the same that it wanted to replace.

only 4 stars or now because I just installed it on my 2007 FJ Cruiser. I have ARB skid plates and there is enough room to install this valve. M12-1.25 is the correct thread size for this motor, although Revain's compliance testing section says it is not compatible. I recommend finding and installing the size you need. I hope to give this product a fifth star after my next oil change.

I couldn't wait to order this item especially as they are becoming less and less. Very well made but I was very disappointed to find metal splinters. At least they were on the part that stays on the outside of the oil pan. It's still a brilliant product that I would recommend to anyone doing their own oil changes, but this one needed a bit more quality control on the finish.

I've had it a little over a month and the oil light came on while driving. When I looked underneath, oil flowed out from under the thread. As you can see in the photo, this screw is flush with my drain pan. And my oil drain plug is recessed behind the plastic panels so it can't be damaged by road debris. I don't know if the one I have is defective, but I could or would have seriously damaged my engine. Would definitely not recommend this product.

This is my second Valvomax drain plug that I have bought in less than a week. Installed on my 99 Pathfinder. Easy installation, well made valve, all stainless steel. Perfect fit for my 2019 Toyota Tacoma SR5 V6. My factory oil plug calls for 30 lb/ft, but following the seller recommendation from 16 lb/ft to 18 lb/ft, I tightened it to 18 lb/ft.
