The color was misleading

I only gave these three stars because it was impossible to match the color to the product I wanted to use it on. It was too dark when I used it but being a small area it worked - wish it could be on a color chart.

Pros
  • Doping ๐Ÿ”ฅ
Cons
  • Ugly packaging

Revainrating 2 out of 5

The color doesn't even come close to matching the color on the bottle.

Dried to a color not remotely similar to the color on the bottle. It has dried to a bright orange color. Easy to use and dries quickly, but what's the point if the color barely matches and sticks out like a sore thumb?

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel
Cons
  • Appearance

Very dark.: Hardware

So I made a walnut and maple dovetail box for the recipe box. A very dark "roasted" walnut was used and a very dark putty was needed to match the color. That was excellent. (You may need to prep the finish with shellac to keep it from getting into the pores of the contrasting wood.)

Pros
  • Good product for the price
Cons
  • Not as thick as other picks

Excellent product for equipment

Absolutely phenomenal product; Only thing I think is that it's darker than you think, dark walnut, but it's holding up very well and has helped a lot in antique and fine furniture restorations. 10/10 would buy this product and other color variations.

Pros
  • Brings joy
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.

It would be better if I took sawdust and glued it with superglue

Too bad there are no negative stars. It's terrible. The color will continue to wash off for a few weeks after application. dusty pieces break off. It would be better if I took sawdust and glued it with superglue! save your money This product is absolutely worse than useless! I had to pry it off to put a GOOD pen in it. We keep mopping the floor trying to clear the debris leftovers from the surrounding area!

Cons

Ordered golden oak and got walnut instead

I also ordered this putty for a table I was painting this week. I was planning on using an oak colored stain so I figured I'd go with the oak colored filler. However, when I received my order, the wood spatula was clearly marked walnut and was much darker than I wanted. I went ahead and used a darker plump and tried a darker stain. The results weren't as good as I expected. Now I plan to take the table down and start over. However, I will not buy a filler from Revain.

Pros
  • High marks for grip and durability from testers
Cons
  • unreliable

Unexpectedly unfeasible in relation to the majority.

I expect this brand to run without any fuss. But it's not like most putties - quite crumbly despite a lot of rubbing, but a little sticky (doesn't stick where it's applied like other putties, even from the same brand), and after a long and hard (days) cure, until unfortunately a light sponge cannot withstand it. Oh, and the color is lighter than the market and then dries to a faux candy or plastic tint. So it was unexpected. (Other products just work, so I rarely leave reviews - that's on me)โ€ฆ

Pros
  • Easy install
Cons
  • Some bugs

Just finished cleaning after doing next to nothing.

I have small gaps in my wall display and border and need a little more than a tiny bead in several places that I would spread IF I HAD A F'N APPLICATOR NOSE. If someone were to ask me what the best finishing product is, I would say it's easy to apply, dries quickly, wipes up spills easily, and washes up in the sink with a bar of soap. Ever since I lowered the ceiling of my bedroom to white pine with my new discovery - VARATHANE - in 1995, it has been a return love for me. No fading orโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Few competitors
Cons
  • Poorly thought out

Ideal for small, relatively unobtrusive areas.

The name says it all. I have used this product on oak floors with a dark walnut finish and it does a great job on small imperfections. My floor has a few very minor issues here, but there are also a few areas that (d) need more filler - which this product isn't good for if you don't have a lot of time. and patience to improve your patch work. A couple of my 4" planks in particular have depths/cracks in the grain of the wood - to the point where it creates a rough surface that I noticed my socks

Pros
  • This is amazing
Cons
  • Definitely a bad product
