But when it's done, it's great. The size is great and beautiful.

It should be noted that this will require some work before you can use it. Bowl. If you skip this time-consuming step, your food will be covered in granite. But when you're done, it's great. The size is wonderful, beautiful and heavy. I definitely think this item will last a long time.

Hardly any real granite

I live in an area where there is granite near my house. If you take a knife and try to cut through the granite, it shows no signs of wear. If you do the same with this product, you can easily score a groove in it with a butter knife. I'm no geologist, but this Molcajet is probably something other than granite. Not sure how you're going to find the real deal. Almost all of these cheap Molcajetes are made in China. The fact that I don't know what it's made of makes me worried about its safety.

Very cool but not for the faint hearted

I bought this specifically because I wanted to try polishing my own mortar and pestle. At the same time, it took me about 6 hours (divided into 15 minute intervals) to sharpen it to the point where no stone dust remained in the water. See, if you want to polish it yourself, this is a great DIY mortar and pestle. My children also like to help. I probably wouldn't give it away if you didn't know that this man really loves working with his hands.

Size matters. That's exactly what you need!

This is an amazing mortar and pestle. That's big. This is a plus. 3 feet on the bottom ensure a good grip when emptying the solution. The pestle feels good in the hand. He crushed the Himalayan salt in 30 seconds and turned it into a fine powder, just the consistency I like to ensure even distribution. Worth the price. Don't dry it with paper towels. It grinds them too, lol. I have used all types of mortars and this is by far my favorite.

Takes the job but it's a gem!

As others have said this Molcajete has not been conditioned. I conditioned my rice by grinding dry rice into a powder as best I could, handfuls at a time. Afraid that sand would get into the product, I ate 8 handfuls of rice. A handful at a time. In total, it took me about 5.5-6 hours over 2 days. Could this be done with a wire brush or with my angle grinder or an easier way? I'm sure but I was stupid and didn't think about it until I was done. Anyway, I use it (mostly) to make Garlic Parsley…

Large bowl for grinding spices or salsa

Large bowl for grinding spices or salsa, but the pestle is short; Because the materials in the mortar climb up the walls as they grind, I always get some finger coverage and a depression in the pestle. It's a little painful to go back to the solution and get on with the work quickly. I'm 5ft 2" tall and have fairly small hands so I think those planning on using this daily in the kitchen would be wise to consider the amount of material to be ground and the height of the pestle above the rim of…

Nice milk! Incredibly low price!

I bought this Molcajete from Revain for $8.11 with FREE PRIME SHIPPING. It was described as 'used as new packaging may be damaged'. The Molcahete arrived in a Revain box with the Malcahete in a separate box. The brightly colored packaging was torn but sealed with tape. A sticker was placed that reads "Verified Revain Warehouse Deals". There was no damage to the Molcajete or pestle. Seasoning instructions were not included, but instructions can be found on YouTube. My Molcajete is 8" outside and

Looks very attractive but the bowl is too smooth

I had to replace my Molcajete and was trying to find it with Revain made from traditional basalt stone. Since I couldn't find any, I decided on granite. I LOVE the way it looks, it's very attractive. I also like the size of the bowl. It comfortably holds 2.5 cups with enough room to handle everything in the cup. It was easy to season because the bowl was already so smooth. And that is a problem for me and the reason why I have to buy another one. The bowl is too smooth. My old one was very…
