Description of 🧴 Vermont's Original Bag Balm: Soothing Relief for Dry Chapped Skin - 8 Ounce Tin

Since 1899, Bag Balm has been the farmer's friend, helping to keep dairy cows from becoming chapped from the harsh environment of Vermont's rugged Northeast Kingdom. It's like having another hand on the farm or helper around the house. Bag Balm works hard all year round, and works well! Lanolin-enriched Bag Balm is a protective ointment that helps keep skin moisturized and soft. Its simple, tried and true formula is easy to apply and is designed to remain on the affected area. For use on cows: Thoroughly wash treated teats and udder with separate towels before each milking. To avoid contamination after each milking, bathe the udder with hot water, strip milk out and dry skin. Apply Bag Balm and massage gently twice daily. For use on dogs: Apply Vermont's Original Bag Balm Ointment liberally to cracked paw pads, dry noses, and wherever dry skin occurs. Bag Balm's simple formula is easy to apply and is designed to remain on the affected area for a long-lasting effect. Compare the tried & tested results of Vermont's Original Bag Balm products to similar products from brands like Musher's Secret, Burts Bees, I Heart Pet Head, BodhiDog, Ruff Relief, Vets Preferred, Paw Soother, Espree, BotaniVet, Max & Neo, or Paw Magic.

The best remedy for chipping / chipping nails

Dermatologist recommended this cream for dry nails. I've been using it for three days now and have no more cracks or peeling whereas before I had to file a split nail every day. I use it before bed and once or twice a day. Too heavy to carry like regular hand lotion but perfect for splitting nails. I apply it, leave it on my nails and wipe the cream off the rest of my hands; Perfect!

Brilliant! Beauty & Personal Care

I love this thing! This was recommended to me by some colleagues who knew I was struggling with EXTREMELY sore elbows. I put on a little lotion every day for a week and my elbows have NEVER been so smooth. Now I only apply it once a week to make sure they stay smooth. I have tried MANY different types of products and nothing has worked as well or as quickly!

Heals cracks and boils

Too many uses to list here. My father's hands are so chapped all year round. This is the only product that helps alleviate those cracks, especially around his fingers (he's in his 80's). It also matches his lips. It's thick enough to stay on while he feeds the critters and he doesn't lick it off because unlike other lip balms, his lips feel hydrated.

and decidedly MUCH BETTER with this little jar

I've been using it since I was born (1950) since my mother grew up. All the new antiseptics for cuts, rashes, chest pains from breastfeeding on the shelves can be solved and solved MUCH BETTER with this little jar.

Wow! skin care in lip balm

I used this on my lips as a night balm and was impressed but not blown away. I love lip balms and maybe it was just the smell but I wasn't that great. It wasn't until I had an allergic reaction in my eyes that caused my eyelid to peel, turn red and dry that I realized the true value of this product! After using moisturizer for two days, I smeared a little on my scaly eyelid but to no avail. Sure enough, the next morning my eyelid was SO SMOOTH and the flaky skin was GONE! No redness either! I'm

Helps dogs with dry skin, as well as farm animals.

Now that he's old, my dog's nose is dry and scaly. According to my vet, nasal hyperkeratosis is an overproduction of protein in the skin cells of the nose, so it looks like little stalagmites are growing on his nose. This is the only product out of several I've tried that removes at least some of the scales (it slips off the side of his nose where you can pull it down and it comes off; leave the rest). on the nose) and wets the nose for a while. I have to try to use it more regularly and it…

Works better than the original. :-(

This formula in the 8 ounce can contains paraffin. My original 10 ounce can does not list paraffin in the ingredients list. Bag Balm claims it's the same formula, but doesn't look and feel like the original, maybe I just got a bad batch, but when there's a new ingredient on the list and it doesn't seem like the old one, I tend to think there's a change Dry hands like I'm almost out of my old jar so I'm hoping I can find a paraffin-free substitute.

Pros
  • Regular Price
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.

Split Nail Help

My nails have been gel polished for many years. My nails are strong but have started to flake off so I had to stop getting manicures. Even after 1 year the splitting didn't stop, although I put conditioning oils on it and then found a blog about Bag Balm. The article said it would help split nails so I ordered it and tried it. Vermont's Original Bag Balm stops cleavage INSTANTLY! I have continued to apply it every day and now my nails are growing and not breaking, it's fantastic! I also use it…

Great as a suede cream

I've been using Bag Balm for years and find it great for rough heels, chapped hands, lip balm, running cream and as a suede cream. The last one, Suede Cream, is my main Bag Balm use at the moment. No, it doesn't tingle like Assos, my favorite cream, but it works as well or better than Assos and costs 1/4 the price per ounce. Because I ride so much, Assos is my cream for race days or special events and Bag Balm is my daily cream. Anyway, Bag Balm has a dozen uses, works very well and is very…
