This device has a Bluetooth connection which can be controlled from a mobile phone or computer. It also communicates with other Victron Energy components. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

It worked for a while then disconnected to change the breaker and when plugged back in smoke went out and stopped working. The fuse is OK. Smoke came out of the main unit. Revane said they would send me a new one or a return form but they never did. What a bunch of caresses to say they're going to do something and then never finish it. I wasn't wrong. I only had it a few months.

I've read other reviews about it having poor bluetooth range but didn't want to believe it. Well, now I know better. I needed this to work with my Victron mppt smart grid solar charge controller in my caravan. Installed it on a house battery in front of the tongue and couldn't connect to the mains 15ft through the trailer to the charge controller. I have to be (clean) to get the Victron to connect to the interface and be less than 15 feet away!

WIFI signal is very weak. The signal doesn't even penetrate a plastic battery box. However, I can see the Victron Battery Monitor 20 feet away. Ordered a stronger block (blue) with the same results. My house battery is less than 10 feet away, but neither device has a strong enough signal. Moved the sensor 7 feet to the starter battery and got the same results. The sensor connects to the solar charge if I leave the sensor on the starter battery box (plastic) and leave the engine bay hatch open…

Some important notes about this product. While this is a nice feature, it only makes sense if the charge controller and battery are next to each other. It has about half the range of a Victron Bluetooth charge controller, which is poor at best at around 6ft. In order to be able to use it at all, I had to plug it in in the cockpit, which totally defeats the purpose of the device. A complete waste of money for the price, maybe 1/4 the price of the toy. Smart Battery Sense uses Bluetooth to send battery voltage to solar charge controllers. Some users have reported that Bluetooth is not suitable for using Smart Battery. I have no issues with Bluetooth on my Lifepo4 lithium batteries on my Catalina 320 sailboat. However, I think it would be nice to extend Victron Smart Battery Sense to an area where Bluetooth works.
