Better software support needed. I have a job for Windows. It has excellent hardware isolation between Can-Bus and USB. But I was hoping for a Windows and Linux COM port device driver using this device. Then I could create software with my own filters.

I recently bought 2 devices and got them up and running quickly using the VCI API. Yes, there are language issues with the documentation and the API, but it didn't take long to resolve them. I like the device and its features like 2 channels and isolation, plus the form factor is good. The problem is that there is no digital signature after Windows 10 updates. and the driver is not loaded. This website provides an example of Python and API. However, it's not clear if the Python API works at all or if it's just poorly documented. I couldn't integrate this device into a Python project. The supplied software is ideal for simply reading along with the messages on the bus.

Documentation and UI are terrible. Nothing went well. Here are all the problems I had: (1) There is a software download link in the user manual, but it's for USB-I2C, not USB-CAN. I found it easily on their website but why not check out their documentation. (2) When I downloaded the correct software I saw a terrible user interface. All elements were scaled incorrectly. UPDATE: I changed this from 1 star to 4 stars for 2 reasons: 1. The tech support email responded in less than 24 hours2. They had a solution that worked with minimal effort. They recommended replacing the classic version of Viewtools with an enhanced version that already had the data transfer rate I needed and was ready to use. They also have documentation on their website that helped me understand the custom baud rate settings. I would give them 5 stars but the filter setup documentation is…
