Description of VIKINGS BLADE Crusader Adjustable Safety

Content: 1x Safety razor handle + Carry case. NOTE 1: No blade provided as blade suitability is subjective and personal. Please buy your double edge blades separately and see which brand suits your hair/skin the best. NOTE 2: You may receive a razor from a rare and limited series that does not have our logo on the head. NOTE 3 about "bowing" blade: This razor has 2 symmetrical burrs on the door corners which slightly bow/bend the blade. NOT a defect. This is part of our new 2020 mold and has passed all QC standards. Razors made from this mold repeatedly give an excellent smooth shave and this has been confirmed by all our genuine beta testers, despite the bowing effect which might be misunderstood. Dual head: straight bar for sensitive skin areas and scalloped bar for normal skin areas. High end brass construction: Durable, Hefty (109g) and Long (117mm). Continuous aggression adjustment band with for a spirited shaving experience, perfect for enthusiasts. Great and meaningful for all occasions: Christmas, Father's Day etc.

What I Was Hoping For: Shaving and Hair Removal

I grew up with these types of razors and was a little hesitant to get back to them after decades of using disposables. I clearly remember how I used to shave off layers of skin because my hands were too heavy or I was in too much of a hurry to shave. I didn't want to repeat this but I was fed up with the poor quality disposables I was going through. So I dared. It's heavier than I expected - I've seen negative reviews about its weight - but I find the weight perfect for me. I haven't adjusted…

Looks good but is not a high quality precision razor

I have a Vikings Godfather safety razor and it was my very first DE safety razor I have ever bought. The Godfather is a very soft (non-aggressive) razor. I can use a feather blade there and still get a good shave. I also had the Chief (Odin Edition) but I sent it back because it was too aggressive and too small for my hands. The crusader looks nice, but it's not accurate at all. Due to sensitive skin, I use the lowest settings and still get cuts. I have used Voskhod blades which are known for…

Better as a kit than a workhorse

Completely disappointed in this razor. It is designed for advanced safety razor users. I see myself as such. I have used different models for many years. Documentation is rather limited. It doesn't say anything about why it has a closed comb side and a smooth side. As far as I know, this is not a common trait. After much trial and error I've come to the conclusion that the smooth side is semi useless, so I have to rinse the razor twice as often and rotate the blade after a few shaves. The…

My new favorite razor

I've been a wet razor for many years and I think I'm well versed in double blade safety razors. I've used just about every top quality safety razor and I can tell you that razors are often overrated. They don't shave as closely as they claim. I can proudly say that this is NOT the case for the Crusaders. Hands down, this is my favorite razor I've ever had. The long handle and weight suit my personal preferences. Each side of the razor has different grooves, essentially giving you two razors in…

The Viking Blade has done it again!

First impression: This is the best shaver I have ever had. It has a very pleasant weight, a great grip and just as I had imagined a perfect blade alignment. I've been thinking about an adjustable razor for a long time. The idea of being able to use each blade with the same razor and adjust it as needed seemed like a no-brainer. But I still skip the time and I'm so glad I did. This razor has a unique feature that no other adjustable razor has. One side of the razor head is shaped and the other…

Worked well but not for long

Works perfectly, too bad it didn't last more than five months. The "gold" finish began to wear away almost immediately after the razor was put into use, revealing a mottled chrome look. This hasn't affected its function, but during blade changes the tiny "shoulders" on the fixed part on one side of the razor broke, preventing one side of the "butterfly" knot from latching in the closed position. The side that could still close also became unusable because the blade was no longer folded into the

Pros
  • Absolutely amazing!
Cons
  • There are nuances

This razor is truly one of a kind, I wouldn't expect anything less from the Vikings. What I like most about this "battleaxe" is the ability to customize the shaving process depending on what part of the face I'm shaving and how close I want to get to it. The adjustable dial is smooth and gives you complete control, you just have to be patient. I recommend starting with a very small blade clearance the first time, and then as you get used to it you can increase the aggressiveness and push a…
