Much cheaper

This is a great value if you need an extra controller but don't want to pay $200 for a Canon controller. Of course you make some concessions. No weather protection. This is much thicker than the cannon, not only on the ring but also on the plastic body. It actually goes under the bottom of my Canon RP. So if you want to mount it on a base plate it can get in the way if you don't have a handle extension. The wheel itself clicks a little cheaply, but works the same as the Canon.

  • Great value

Very cheaply made - accessories

I bought this adapter when the original Canon adapter was out of stock. It was very loose on my camera and the lenses wobbled. This seemed unsafe and caused wear and tear on my camera. Small metal razors fell off and luckily missed my sensor. In the end I found the original adapter and it made a big difference. I wouldn't skimp on the Canon adapter. All camera equipment is very expensive and this adapter can be dangerous for your camera and lenses.

Pros
  • Great workmanship
Cons
  • I'm nervous

Works great as an adapter, sometimes doesn't work as a control ring

This is a well made item at the same price as the standard adapter but with the option of a control ring. I would believe even my most expensive lens is attached to it. Sometimes the control ring gets in the way because it's so wide. If you have big fingers or a flat tripod this could get in the way. Sometimes the camera doesn't recognize the control ring and I have to unplug it and try again. I set up exposure compensation on my EOS RP.

Pros
  • Great for outdoor activities
Cons
  • I'll write back

Worked well, looks good

adapter is ok - mine was pretty tight. It is made of light alloy, combines autofocus perfectly. You can remove the tripod mount (an Allen key is included for this). It's not as handy as the Cannon adapter and it's not weatherproof, but it'll do fine for most uses if it holds up. You have to be careful to fully lock the lenses on it - it can be rotated fully without the pin snapping (once happened). So try turning the lens back after you think it's locked. I'm coming back after comparing it with

Doesn't work well with large lenses.

This adapter is not designed to support the weight of a large lens. If you have EF mount 70-200mm or higher. This mount will disappoint you in the moments when you cannot afford to be disappointed. The mount is not as firm and reliable. The pins that electronically connect the lens to the camera are separate from my heavier lenses 90% of the time I use them. That means my camera doesn't even feel like it has a lens attached. Not in a good mood. I have to turn the camera off, wait and then turn…

Pros
  • One year trial
Cons
  • Protection

Thought it would be a temporary purchase until Canon sorted out their "supply chain" issues (they do it does not seem to be the same) the same problem with turning bodies for 2-3 thousand dollars). Now I'm in no hurry to change this adapter. Haven't noticed any issues with image quality - flare etc and very happy with the price and availability. The connection between the camera body and the adapter is solid, but there are a few degrees of movement between the adapter and the lens. After a few…

Pros
  • Don't waste too much time
Cons
  • Reliability

Works on Canon eos R6

EDITED: After using this adapter I will still say it works. HOWEVER, something happens where the light seeps through. I now have a Canon and have had no problems with it. This adapter made me hazy even when the sun was completely out of my line of sight. I don't know if I've ever written a review on Amazon but I wanted people to know that this item works on the Canon eos R6. Autofocus works, eye detection works - works. There is an option in the menu that needs to be unchecked for the shutter…

A WORTHY alternative to Canon/Metabones

I use this product with my Sigma 18-35mm 1.8 which has been adapted to my Canon R6 with this adapter. I was expecting poor performance like the MFT model and didn't think the autofocus would work (especially with a non-canon lens), but my goodness, I was pleasantly shocked. Autofocus on Canon R cameras is almost as good as the native lens. I trusted him on professional shoots. It works perfectly. It is also amazing that you get a control ring for this low price. Excellent value for money and…

Pros
  • Accessories
Cons
  • No performance

I fitted an EF-R2 to my new EOS R5 with seven different EF lenses. Updated the Viltrox EF-R2 firmware to version 1.1 from their website (it came with firmware 1.0) and configured the control ring functions through the R5 menu setup. Use different AF settings and control ring functions (Kelvin color temperature settings etc.) with my R5, everything works fine. The control ring is a little tight, and the EF lens rotational play at the junction between the EF-R2 and the back of the EF lens has…
