More than fulfills its purpose. I received this for ascetic reasons. Threw that bad boy up my chimney and he's fine. For me the added benefit is the heat it gives off. He's in a room with vaulted ceilings, so even in his wildest dreams he won't be able to fully heat the room. However, if you sit by the fireplace, you will feel comfortable and relaxed in its warming atmosphere.

I love this item, I should have bought it for my fireplace a long time ago. It's so realistic, especially the shadows and flames that look like they're licking your back... it makes the room cozy and homey and throws a nice glow into the room. The heater is a great addition, not the hottest I'd like, but does warm the room. The remote control makes it very convenient.

It fits my fireplace perfectly and looks great. The added faux flames and real heat are a bonus. You can dim the lights which was cool and a little heater actually makes a big difference. I have a fairly large living room and the fan distributes heat efficiently throughout the room. Normal burning magazines cannot do this. And the price was just amazing. My best purchase of the year so far.

I ordered this fireplace insert in January. It stood in my real fireplace, carried heat well into a large room, and looked very pretty. The "fiery" light looked realistic. We live in Florida so we didn't use it daily, maybe we ran it 15 times or so. At the end of March it stopped working. We tried multiple outlets, so the problem is definitely with the device itself. In short, it was great while it lasted, but it should have lasted longer than 2 months.

I love having a heater that doesn't take up living space and I love having a night light at night. However, this heater makes a lot of noise, which annoys me. Not only white noise, but also the whirring of a fan in a certain tone. It's a B note. So, white noise plus the hum of the B note, and the light display does its faint hum as well.
