I wanted to use these for my pet chickens that are too young to go outside. They work very well for this purpose. They are smaller so I would not recommend them for a herd larger than about 6. Their bottom is quite curved, but not so much that the water doesn't linger.

use one for my chicken brooder as a waterer. Have 8 chicks 2 months old and change the water once a day. I hang it on a rope and it stays clean enough. I really like that the hens don't throw their bedding on it and try to sit on it. When I first poured and collected water, it didn't let water into the tray. I drilled the existing holes and added two more. This works perfectly for me.

The dining room is so beautiful! It's just the right size for chicks and the water seems to stay "cleaner" with no weird smells coming out of the tank after a day or two. The pool does get a bit dirty with the chickens kicking and scratching but I've found that leaving it away from the feeding area stays a little cleaner, but they manage to clog it up with dirt. Overall I'm very happy with it. I use it for poultry chickens, pheasant chickens and quail.

Great drinker for bantams or chicks. and have now bought about a dozen of these. They are great for my bantams and smaller quail and hens, just add a few balls in the tray to prevent drowning. Everyone who left a bad review uses it with big birds. and shouldn't be.

I chose this product because of its size. Small but not too small. The description (when I ordered) said 1.5 liters/litre. If you look at the picture, it says so on the product. When it arrived I thought it looked small so I measured it. It holds a maximum of 36 oz if you fill it right up to the dispensing hole. It's a full 12 ounces less than the description.
