I do not recommend for computers and accessories

The hard drive works as expected. It gets very hot when transferring large files. Unfortunately I can't recommend it. I tried reporting to WD and they claim the serial number is invalid even after sending a picture of the hard drive and the serial number box.

Pros
  • Certified
Cons
  • Not bad, but...

DOES NOT WORK WITH MAC BIG SUR!

EXPENSIVE garbage. To use this drive with a MAC you need to download a 3rd party app and PAY $50 to use it! Otherwise you will not be able to read/write to your hard drive. That's a scandal! I'm outraged. It's expensive junk and WD shouldn't be selling it. If WD intends to use this product with Big Sur OS, WD must update and provide the WD Utilities software and not refer customers to any third party to pay for it!

Pros
  • The best
Cons
  • There are nuances

WD customer support is the worst I have ever experienced.

I bought a 1TB MyPassport SSD and moved over 250GB of my photo library. Now only 250GB is left on the SSD. Somehow 500 GB of capacity has disappeared. There is no information in the WD knowledge base on this issue and when I went to their live chat support I was told I would wait 16 minutes to say I'm fourth. After I waited and finally came first, they CANCELED me and said "Please try again later". I strongly advise against buying from this company.

Pros
  • An absolute legend
Cons
  • Definitely a bad product

I was backing up files from my computer and found that 250 GB of files on my computer grew to > 550 GB after the backup of the SSD led! After discussions with the manufacturer WD, I decided that the SSD is geared more towards fast playback of large files (music, games, etc.) than storing everyday files. Note. You cannot change this setting for an SSD. So this SSD would only allow me to copy 430GB to a 1TB SSD! It is recommended to use a hard disk. I went back and bought another WD hard…

Pros
  • Hands-free operation
Cons
  • Almost never

INVALID PRODUCT SERIAL NUMBER - Pay attention to the feedback!

I should have listened to other reviews that said they couldn't register their product. I tried to register two of these Western Digital SSDs and both were invalid. I contacted WD support and provided all the information requested (receipt, serial number, part number and their photos). After a week I got no response from WD so I contacted support again. They told me I already submitted the form and they are working on it. Here I am 15 days later and WD still hasn't confirmed the serial numbers.

Pros
  • Free for educational purposes
Cons
  • Big and bulky
