Judging from similar reviews, I don't know why setting "1" is the highest speed but the lowest number? If for some technical reason the fan needs to run at full speed with the fan off - fine - at least change the numbering! I've been using it for at least a month with no problems. This causes the light to flash quickly. I don't know why as it must be on a separate circuit (perhaps due to a common wire?).
