Fits Easily, Press Fit Be Gone

I think the PF30 is a way for the manufacturer to save a few bucks by not having to machine the bottom bracket. I hate press cups but I wanted a Specialized Fuse Comp so I had to do what I had to do. Let me mount my Race Face crank and ditch that heavy heavy duty crank and pre-squeak the pf30 bottom bracket.

Pros
  • Perfect for Outdoor Activities
Cons
  • No Performance

Documentation would be great.

I wish I could rate this higher but there is no documentation on how to use it. I now know about the bottom brackets and how to install them, but it seemed like my crank wouldn't spin freely when using the red outer collars. So at the moment I'm running the BB without it and I'm sure the gravel dust will quickly destroy the bearings.

Pros
  • Pleasant to use
Cons
  • Good but not great

Will not fit in transmission components

Seems to be a really well made item. However, this did not go so well with my application. When fitted to my Specialized Stumpjumper, it is too wide for my Shimano Zee cranks to engage properly. I ended up removing the boot from the drive side and all went well. I'm sure this will reduce bearing life. If I didn't have time I would return it, but I'm taking a risk with this configuration. Hope it lasts a while.

Look at SRAM GXP satisfaction.

If you have a very specific Press Fit 30 (46mm) bottom bracket situation and want to fit a SRAM GXP crankset (24mm/22mm axle) then this is your ticket to joy and happiness. The machining is top notch and the collet design works great in this application. Just make sure the drive side bearing side (24mm) is installed on the right/right side and you will be very happy with the result. The Wheels Manufacturing version of the adapter will do for this situation, but it's ugly. This is a much more…

Quiet, handles rotate easily.

Sprinting several thousand kilometers on a mountain bike on this bb. It was calm and solid. I pull the handles several times a year and dust. The cranks turn with much less friction than the crude Shimano bottom bracket that came with the XT cranks. The key is better storage and the fact that the left and right sides combine as one within the frame. One star deducted because the installation was lousy. I barely managed to connect the two sides. It took a lot of trial and error and putting…

Mounting to the frame was easy, cranks fit perfectly

This is my first bottom bracket brace which I was hesitant at first as I needed some sort of converter for my PF30 BB frame to work with one Shimano 6800 crankset. Found this BB at a very reasonable price, it was easy to put on the frame, the crankset fitted perfectly. Have tried a few hundred kilometers so far, nothing creaks, runs as quietly as I would like, smooth and looks very good. Here are some summaries of the part: 1. Installed with a small tool, the drive side cup is hand pressed in…

Pros
  • Great for a small house
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for seniors

Creak Creak Bike Creak

2012 Kona Jake the Serpent. Originally supplied with PF30 BB. Almost a year ago I changed the group and switched to Shimano 105 24mm cranks. This BB was very easy to install and definitely fit 24mm cranks, but no matter what I did I couldn't get these things to not squeak. At first it was just under stress. I drive almost 20 miles to work every day and have to climb a big hill in each direction. Slowly the creaking got louder and in the end it started to creak even at rated load. I chose PF30…
