The blade is fully covered with a soft plastic coating for complete protection. (Good.) I think my stock wood was too thick. The profile could have been made a little "higher" to be able to cut more wood material, but it was "good enough" for what I was doing. I had either a nick in the sill surface or an uncut chip of wood on the bottom edge.
I bought this attachment to create a custom piece for a chair rail cover when attaching upholstery. Although the chisel isn't big enough for the 1.5 inch profile I need, a quick trip to the table saw cleared it up. The customer is very satisfied and is now asking for more custom joinery. Whiteside makes great cutters. They are a bit pricey but the quality is totally worth it.
