I accidentally tried to put my previous bit through the screw which severely damaged the bit. When ordering a replacement, I had no doubts that I would receive another Whiteside. The price is competitive and the quality is excellent. The beat I destroyed has made many chips over the years and was still good for many other projects.
I was just cutting grooves on the edge of the boards with this router. I had to cut the slot with side cutters and a bearing because cutting through the entire slot 1" deep and 1/2" wide killed a nice new Milwaukee router. I've gone through 900 feet of 1 inch deep grooves and the cutter still works fine.
I use a spiral upward cutter to cut round tables and this cutter is fast and causes minimal chipping (even on cherries). A quality cutter that I will be making lots of use of and the 1 1/2 inch height of cut is very versatile. Many times I need to cut 1" wood, and the 1" bit is small and the 2" bit is bulky (even dangerous). The ideal cutting length is 1 1/2 inches. The upcut design ejects sawdust and shavings, ensuring a clean, multi-pass cut rather than clogging the trench.
It's hard to write about the parts of the Whiteside router that haven't been written yet. Like all Whiteside products, this beat is just a small work of art. Absolutely perfect workmanship, high-quality carbide is incredibly sharp and seems to cut forever before it needs sharpening. The slightly higher initial cost of a whiteside cutter compared to a cheap imported cutter is quickly offset by the fact that a whiteside cutter can cut many times the length of a cheap cutter without tearing orβ¦
