Excellent for set screws on hydraulic motor couplers. It never fails, the set screw is always in an awkward position that an open-end wrench can't reach, and your 6-point socket set won't fit a 4-point socket. While a 12 point head will do, I prefer to keep fewer points.

I didn't think I would use them as much as I do now! Works MUCH better with square heads than a wrench! No more stripping, breaking, rounding, slipping, not being able to let go. It took me a long time to buy a set! Highly recommended and they reach quite large sizes! I use 9/16" on old top loader transmission drain plugs all the time!

Your first obvious conclusion is that nuts and bolts have six sides, so why do I need them. They work great with all those weird little square heads, valves, etc that you used a wrench with the added bonus of a ratchet to get at them. Good quality sockets, glad I bought them!

8 point sockets are hard to find at this price point. I only needed a 1/2" socket, but I found this set to be more reasonably priced. Now that I have the complete set, I have found multiple uses for the rest of the set. The quality was well above my expectations for the price. I I have high standards when it comes to my hand tools as these sockets are snap-on quality and I want them to have a home in my pro tool box.

Cons: - The product arrived without packaging, which was 3-4 times larger than needed. Thankfully there was no damage due to the quality of the sockets, but the shipping company could have done MUCH better. Add at least 1 airbag!
