🍫 Wilton Candy Melts Candy and Chocolate Melter, 2.5 Cup Capacity Review

Today I used a Wilton chocolate and candy melting pot. I followed the directions in the recipe and my chocolate covered strawberries came out perfect. I used chunks from Nestle Toll House and added a teaspoon of organic vegetable shortening to my melty chocolate to thin it out a bit for easy dipping and coating. I give the Wilton Candy Melting Pot three stars because it melts chocolate so well. The problem I just had was that the purple ring around the silicone tub just came undone at the seam after only 3 months of random use. I have always hand washed the tub in warm soapy water (no dishwasher and not very hot water). At first I thought it was meant to be disassembled for easy cleaning, but unfortunately it isn't. Do not recommend this product. I definitely got what I paid for with this product. I used it to make a few small batches of candy when I first got it and then cleaned and repackaged it for a couple of months. I was about to make a few batches again as the holiday was approaching and after an hour on the lower setting to keep the chocolate liquid while my first batch cooled I went to get the pot out and the ring started to crack . half. I used it almost as soon as it arrived today. I am very happy with it. It's a lot easier than using a double boiler or microwave for the chocolate I melt for candy and decorations. One caveat is to start at a high temperature, but once the chocolate begins to melt, turn the temperature down to medium, as the heat gets very hot and the chocolate will burn if you leave it on a high temperature for too long. I usually melt candy in the microwave. But we had to buy a new microwave, and it can't handle melted Wilton lollipops. So I ordered that. Anyway, I've secretly always wanted it! I figured it would be a lot easier and not have to be standing next to the microwave while it melts. The instructions are very clear. Hand wash the entire block and dry before use. I did it. There is a line in the pot that cannot be filled with candy. I didn't even fill it that high and it took 35 minutes to fully melt!
