Description of Wilwood 260 8419 Adjustable Proportioning Valve
Adjustable proportioning valve. Pressure adjustments range from 100-1000 PSI. Fine tune the front to rear braking balance by proportionally decreasing the rear brake line pressure. Valves weigh only 5.2 ounces. Standard in and out ports are 1/8-27 NPT.
Installed on a rigid body Nissan because either the ABS module or the load sensor failed. I only had the front brakes until I disengaged them both and used them to adjust the front and rear offset.
"Oh, I can save $XXX!"No, no, you can't. They all lick or suck, anything I've ordered or tried over the years. Buy Willwood, eat ramen for a few days, have no puddles of brake fluid under the car, and the brakes work.
Excellent price. Excellent quality. Good experience. Easy to install as it comes with detailed instructions with exactly the right sizes and what you need to make everything work properly. No leak no problem. Phenomenal product.
Very well built. Looks great and works great. Comes with fittings to match your regular 3/8x24 brake line fittings. Quite compact and easy to install. Highly recommended for this price! Well done Wilwood.
I installed this metering valve between the master cylinder and the rear brake hose. Great little safety improvement as the factory manifold doesn't have a pressure gauge or limit so every time you apply or brake you send full pressure to all 4 brakes. I have power discs on all 4 wheels and without this valve my rear discs would lock up first. Not good. so now i can adjust the braking power that goes backwards!
Still made in the USA and still excellent quality at a price not far below some dispensing valves made in China. I bought this to replace a 23 year old Wilwood valve (previous model) just to have peace of mind due to its age. However, the old one still works, which is a testament to the quality of the previous design. The only suggestion on this is to look out for the part number you are ordering - the valve is the same but the diameter and thread pitch of the adapters supplied are different…
I replaced a bed load actuated control valve on my 27 year old Toyota pickup. The front brake locked and I slipped dangerously, especially on wet roads. It was a complex setup with a custom mount modification and custom lanyard attachments. I bought a hose to match, then cut the metric off my brake lines and spliced the new fittings onto the existing lines. I had to twist off the return line on the front brake "T” but everything fit and worked fine. It takes time to set up with trial and error,
