I had a very unpleasant musty smell every time I started the AC (I live in Florida). A mechanic friend of mine advised me to replace the cabin filter. Saw this on Revain and based on the reviews decided to take a chance. The results were instant. The smell disappeared immediately and I am very impressed to say the least. I bought this for my 2009 Volkswagen Jetta SE Wagon. It was a little difficult to install. I had to google to find out, but turns out the filter is in that tiny, hard-to-reach little compartment under the glove box. Once I found it I was able to replace it in about 5 minutes. and there's no way I can. If you go to a dealer for this they will charge you four times what they charge here between parts and labor!

Aside from brakes and rotors, this is probably one of the biggest rip-offs at the dealer. Replacing the cabin filter takes a maximum of 5 minutes. The VW system is easy if the filter is in the cab, but this filter is fine. I compare everything to OEM quality and it's true you get what you pay for. It worked and went in with no issues, but you can see the build quality isn't the same. I don't know who else either, but the other Wix products I've bought were made in Germany and now China.

This Air Filter (24489) was a perfect fit for the 2012 VW Jetta Sportwagen TDI. The actual product is slightly different from the image (actual images were posted) in the description, there is no foam pad on the outside. The old cabin air filter was obsolete and had to be replaced after a year. I've found that ordering and replacing your own air filter can save you a lot of money once it's done at the dealer. It's really easy to change. In my case I had to loosen 2 screws under the panel on the passenger side and slide the cover to the side. PROS: + Good construction + Antimicrobial treatment to kill bacteria that can grow in the filter + Excellent fit with foam on the outer edges for a better seal + Fits the same as the OE filter + You can smell the difference from the air, coming out of the air conditioning vents! CONS: - Absolutely none - I would like to know what difference a new cabin filter would make on previous cars I've had.
