🚗 WIX Filters - 58618 Auto Trans Filter, Qty 1 Review

Installed on a 2010 RAV4 a few weeks ago. The filter fitted well and the gasket was the correct shape but was thinner than the original factory Toyota so it leaked. I had to drain the oil again and put it in Toyota, it came up normally and doesn't flow. The WIX gasket keeps the bolts in place better (unlike Toyota) because the holes are a bit smaller, but it doesn't matter much. From now on I buy original spare parts whenever possible.

Tried to use it on Rav4 2006. Causes uneven shifting. I got an original Toyota filter and shifting was normal straight away. Comparing Wix to Toyota, it's easy to see why. Wix's filter media was much thicker than Toyota's, which I felt restricted liquid flow. So not only did I spend money on this filter, I also spent another $40 on gear oil. I should have taken a Toyota first. Not recommended if your vehicle also has a "strainer" type transmission filter like the Rav4.

My transmission started to slip and threw out CEL (common for this transmission) on my 2000cc 4WD Lexus RX300 with 182,000 miles. I switched the fluid to Valvoline Synthetic and switched the transmission filter to this Wix filter. The gaskets included in the kit are well sealed and will not leak, and the o-ring fits the filter (be sure to lubricate it with fresh ATF before installing). The filter is the same as the original and the gasket fits perfectly. 5 starts as he continues to live up to the good reputation of Wix products!** This filter is suitable for u140e gearboxes and possibly other U-series. Always check your VIN and cross-reference parts. The Revains Compatibility Chart is utterly useless in this regard. Perfect for my application. Everything needed to change the transmission oil and filter was included except for the transmission oil. Beware! There is a rubber O-ring around the filter connecting tube. You may not see it on your old filter or in your new filter pack, but the o-ring will be there. Make sure you find a new O-ring and use it.
