Good Product: Replacement Parts

Perfect Fit. WIX makes great products. I have used the same setup on another car and after a few years there have been no leaks or sealing issues. I can't be wrong I changed the automatic transmission filter at 120,000 km. The original filter looked normal, particles accumulated in the filter. Not a ton. I change transmission oil every 60,000km. I've never had transmission problems.

Pros
  • Good Assembly
Cons
  • Poor Kit

My car had a transmission leak when I checked it out.

My car was leaking out of the transmission when I checked part of the oil pan was leaking. This is for a 1999 Camry LE. I only had this car less than a year ago. After removing the pan, I saw that it was a native gasket on the car. Some people just don't realize that the fluid needs to be changed every few years. I haven't seen the leak since I changed it.

Pros
  • Amazing
Cons
  • No Instructions

Wix makes good filters

I've used Wix oil filters and liked them so I just went with them when I wanted to change the transmission filter. I had no trouble installing the filter and gasket and am confident that the filter will do its job in the sump. Of course, the filter is just a screen to catch large particles, just like the OEM filter. The gasket is rubber as opposed to the original cork, but it holds all 15 pan screws in place for reinstallation, and I haven't had any leaks.

  • Availability
Cons
  • Out of fashion

Fit 2001 Camry 4cyl

Looked the same as the filter it replaced except for the numbers stamped on it. Even has a small clip for attaching the magnetic cable. Pretty easy to install and not too messy thanks to Toyota providing a drain plug. The location of the panorama magnets seems to be important, so pay attention to where they go. I didn't and had to google a bit. Be careful not to overtighten the small 10mm flat head screws. The spec is 43 IN/lbs, which isn't much more than I could get with a ratchet screwdriver.

Pros
  • Acceptable
Cons
  • Replacement Availability

With wix. Why buy inferior quality?

At all the local auto parts stores I was willing to wait for a Wix filter kit. Yes I could buy it locally but at a price close to the list price. Even Amsoil lends its reputation to Wix as it is the preferred set of filters on their website. Good seal of quality, clear instructions. Since you're changing your own like me, be sure to have a full liquid flush when you change the filter. So you get absolutely clean liquid next to a new filter.

Pros
  • Great for me
Cons
  • Reliability

Good Gear Screen

This well made screen (not really a filter) does exactly what you expect it to. It comes in a sealed plastic bag and the rubber seal is in the box. The net fits, the seal fits. The bolt holes in the gasket are tight enough to hold the bolts if someone tries to align the pan, gasket, and gearbox. Wix leaves no claims. There might be others that are just as good at a lower price, but that's not something to explore while your transmission is down.

Pros
  • Confident
Cons
  • Sad Gear
