🐺 Wolf Tooth's Precision-Machined Seatpost Clamp: Unmatched Performance and Quality Review

This is my second clamp of this type. I replaced the quick release after installing the dropper post. This is the second for a commuter bike. The saddle does not need to be adjusted after assembly. The type of bolt and hinges used to close this clamp ensures the correct geometry for the most efficient clamp. The CNC machined aluminum is excellent as are all Wolf Tooth products I have used.

Like the others, my bike came with a quick release seat post clamp. I tightened the thing so tight it hurt to close the lever, but it still sank with every ride. Since I'm the only person who rides my bike I don't need a quick release clamp so I ordered this Wolf Tooth clamp as a replacement. I've only had to install this clamp once and the saddle hasn't sagged one iota in months.

I bought these 31.8mm for my ELECTRA TOWNIE 7d electric bike. more clamping power and something that makes it harder to steal my $200 seatpost and saddle. It's made in the USA so I feel better spending a few bucks more on the clamp. They offered one with a security torx screw for anti-theft protection.

Looks great and works well. Goes very well with the orange I9 Hydra Classic rear hub and Wolf Tooth front axle. Easy installation with an internally routed drip support, loosen the lever on the handlebars to create some slack, then simply unscrew the bolt completely from the clamp and thread the cable through. . set and forget. Be sure to follow the manufacturer's sizing recommendations. I have a 31.6mm seatpost, but the 34.9/35mm clamp fits my 2016 DB Catch 2 frame perfectly.

The main image in the product description does NOT match the item shipped. In the large picture, the inner surface of the clamp is absolutely smooth. The clip I actually received has a tiny "edge" on the inner surface. This will prevent the clip on the outside of the down tube from moving into position on the bike frame. An image of a "cluster" of objects MAY show an edge, but that's not clear at all. It was useless to install it on my bike.

This is a seatpost clamp. So choose from a variety of offers. What attracted me was that it was made in the USA. Okay, so that's a nice seatpost clip. I have gold to match the gold chain on my black fix. Really completes the build. Lightweight and expertly crafted, it's a perfect decoration for your bike. That being said, I've just ordered my third one because my measurements were inaccurate. Make sure you measure with calipers or be very sure of what your ruler is telling you - the top of my seat tube is slightly tapered towards the top which messed up the measurement and these clamps are very precisely…

I've made the decision to switch from a QR seatpost clamp to a precision-machined 31.8/32mm Wolf Tooth seatpost clamp since installing the seatpost.
