Works well on 12V, fires (literally) on 24V

Load (9W) 2) 24V DC, 450mA average load (10.8W). The first one has been running stably for a month without any problems. The second worked fine when I first tested it with 12V. I slowly increased the supply voltage from 12V to 24V and the converter continued to work. However, when I immediately switched to 24V with the same desktop power, the converter produced a nice puff of white smoke (and stopped working).

Pros
  • Free for educational purposes
Cons
  • Slightly crumpled

Great fix for a blown 5v regulator on an Eachine bin

I blew the 5v regulator on an Eachine bin after switching to the XT30 battery connection (and didn't add a capacitor because I didn't know I could do it needed one). There is a YouTube video about it and how to fix it. For installation I cut off the connectors from this voltage converter and soldered the wires to the F4 controller. (Voltage side where the battery connector goes in and 5V side where the LED strip gets soldered.) Works great so far, about 20 flights. Directly on top of the F4โ€ฆ

probably smaller than you think

These things are ridiculously small. I've included a photo of all 4 on a 5mm square grid alongside some common objects: - a US quarter - some Dupont breadboard wires - a thermistor with a standard size 2-pin JST-XH socket. I was expecting these things to be wired. It's a standard two-pin JST-XH connector, not some ridiculous 1/4 scale version of it. In order to do anything with them, I'll have to turn that ending into something fairly ordinary. The wires are also very small, but probably notโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Excellent overall performance
Cons
  • I doubt it

Works as advertised but one died in the first 10 minutes

These miniature 6-24VDC to 5VDC voltage converters (approx 1/4" x 3/4") work as advertised /expected. The seller answered questions within a day. You have to rely on the seller and the comments to ensure red leads are "positive" and black leads are "negative". The blocks are covered with black shrink tubing. There is no INPUT/EXIT mark. The seller and another comment confirmed that the big red connector is the INPUT side (intended for the battery) and the small JST style white connector is theโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • Concise instructions
