Listen to the bad reviews!

Hot garbage. Literally!Believe the bad reviews!I purchased this, trying to teach myself to solder. I figured I would save the money until I had better projects. This solder does not work! I even purchased liquid rosin to help the process but it still won’t absorb into wire and gives me cold joints. I paid a little extra to get a reputable brand and the difference is night and day.If you’re new to soldering or looking for a low-cost spool, save yourself the headache and look elsewhere.

Pros
  • It's soldering, so not much to say. Good hold, not too messy
Cons
  • Not lead.

Great stuff. Very thin and easy to use

Great stuff. Very thin and easy to use. Because it's thin it melts very easily, making the entire job easier. The product may not adhere well to some materials, compromising the stability of the joint!

Pros
  • It’s just solder and melts when it’s supposed to.
Cons
  • The product may not adhere well to some materials, compromising the stability of the joint

Thin wire. best in my review

The Solder is so thin that I was worried initially. Turns out, I have much better control of my solder joints and the solders are hotter with more flow. I am pretty happy

Pros
  • This is the only solder I have used, but it's been working well and I still haven't used half of it.
Cons
  • Packaging may not be user-friendly for beginners or people with arthritis

Buyer Beware: Total Junk

I needed a thinner diameter solder for a project ASAP and grabbed this as it was a "best buy" and "featured product" it is absolute garbage. Hard to flow, chunky, complete junk. Would not buy again. The entire spool is unusable. I do a good bit of electronics work and have a quality iron so it's definitely a product related issue.

Pros
  • Everything was great with this product
Cons
  • May not be suitable for use in applications where high temperatures are required

Buy Kester instead for my opinion

I'm not sure why all the positive reviews. This is inexpensive Chinese solder and it really doesn't work nearly as nicely as some of the other brands I've tried. I made more cold solder joints in the first few minutes of using this as in all the years of soldering with Radio Shack or Kester combined.

Pros
  • Great product . Really nice kit. Has everything you need
Cons
  • Can be difficult to remove from surfaces if accidentally spilled

A nice size for working with SMD

The feed is nice when working with PCBs with both surface mount and SMD components. I use this size a lot when installing internal video/HDMI modifications, ODEs, and other tight space/tight pitch circumstance where an excess of solder feed can force the cleanup of excess solder among a sea of small pitch chip legs.A quick hit of this gauge to the iron's face seemed to always be perfect for dragging solder down and out from IC legs onto an FFC!

Pros
  • Used for repairing the wiring of an electric guitar.
Cons
  • Contains lead, a toxic substance that can be harmful to health and the environment

Good solder for electronic work

Works well for "tinning" both the iron and the wires. This size (0.8 mm) is for small projects and electronics. This product is better than some I have tried. It appears that the amount of rosin flux is just about optimal for small connections. It also works well for intricate soldering of small stained glass pieces. Flows well at low temperatures.

Pros
  • Fast ship hey it's solder but it works
Cons
  • Can cause skin irritation or burns if mishandled

Works better for my opinion

Much better than what was using. Maybe a tad short on resin? Sometime add a little extra resin to get a better joint and faster melt. Not quite up to Kester quality but close.

Pros
  • Great solder. Strong bond, good temp response, easy to clean as well. Will buy again.
Cons
  • May not work well on heavy-duty soldering jobs

Highly Recommended: my feedback

I had to put together a Raspberry Pi project with a ton of separate components and micro soldering for my son's school project. I haven't soldered anything since my young days soldering together slot car chassis out of brass tubing. I went to my local electronics store and they wanted nearly $50 for a roll of resin based solder. I found this on Ebay Prime and it worked perfectly. No running of the flux and perfect pinpoint solders at every point. All I can say is that it worked perfectly and…

Pros
  • My soldering has improved 100x using this. Its diameter is perfect for small components.
Cons
  • Can release toxic fumes when heated, posing a breathing hazard to the user
