Terraflex: As close as possible to the Pegasus on the trail

First thought: I can't believe how light these shoes are! It's as close to wearing nothing as I'll ever get to closed-toe shoes. Second thought: I can't believe these shoes have lasted this long given how light they are! Third thought: I will never buy another trail running shoe again.**No exaggeration

Pros
  • Constructed from high quality materials for strength and durability
Cons
  • Limited depreciation

Great lightweight trail running shoe

Only wore them once today on a muddy trail. Four miles of mixed terrain (mud, grass, some rocks and gnarled roots). Felt very comfortable and helped deflect a lot (but not all) of the harder surface rock. I wouldn't necessarily want to wear them on trails that are mostly covered in sharp rocks, but other than that they offer good underfoot protection for a lightweight/almost minimalist shoe. Runs relatively true to size, although I would suggest going up to the next size up if you're between…

Pros
  • Doesn't cause chafing or blisters on legs
Cons
  • Limited water resistance

My shoes. the best in my rating

I like that. They're strong enough to carry around the barn and up our rocky trails, but light enough that my feet feel good on the ground. I ended up having to replace my first pair because the upper was falling apart. They have survived over 2 years of intensive use without any further problems. The fit in them is perfect with enough room in the front for my legs to spread and the heel sits snugly in place. These are just great shoes.

Pros
  • Helps improve circulation in feet and legs
Cons
  • May not provide enough support for heavy lifting

size up! my pros and cons

Bought for hiking in Utah. As a rule, women's size 9.5 altra (40 in vivo barefoot) is worn. I ended up being a men's size 8.5 in this shoe but finally had enough room to wiggle my toes. Very fit, much less bulky than other campers.

Pros
  • Helps develop stronger legs and a better gait
Cons
  • hard to crack

shoes for everything.

This is my fourth pair of shoes bought from Xero Shoes and I love them. I first bought them in anticipation of snow/ice skating in Chicago this winter, but I quickly realized that they are much more than just running shoes. Yes, they're great for winter running thanks to their profile, but they're also great for running on flat, regular asphalt. They're just as flexible as their other models, just a little thicker to accommodate the tread on the soles. They are also great everyday shoes. The…

Pros
  • Protects feet from rocks, rocks and other sharp objects.
Cons
  • May cause leg fatigue

My favorite hiking shoes

I've tried countless hiking sandals. Most had too many pillows to be called barefoot. Regular sandals didn't have the traction or protection that hiking boots did. This shoe strikes the perfect balance of "ground feel" and protection for your feet, while still providing enough traction to safely scale a muddy slope or cross water. These are now my favorite shoes for hiking, fishing, warm weather hunting, and gardening. My wife also has a pair and she loves them

Pros
  • Also suitable for wide feet.
Cons
  • May not be suitable for people with tendonitis or plantar fasciitis.

Very light and comfortable. I love her!

I'm on my feet most of the day covering a lot of concrete, tile and other hard surfaces. These shoes are light and comfortable and I love wearing them. Every morning I have to choose between two different styles of Xero that I have. I'm always sad when I have to wear "normal" shoes.

Pros
  • Eco-friendly materials used in construction
Cons
  • Limited cushioning for long hikes

Great shoes. Positive reaction to the ground!

These shoes provide excellent ground feedback and are comfortable. My hiking takes on new meaning when I wear minimalist shoes. I love the new feel I've found compared to the 'regular' shoes I've worn.

Pros
  • Anti-slip outsole for better traction on any surface
Cons
  • Limited tip durability

Update: after 1 year of light use they are falling apart.

Update: After 1 year of light use (Covid kept me indoors) they are falling apart. The soles come off. The shoes have the build quality of cheap Chinatown slippers. The toe area is destroyed. The sole is a REALLY hard piece of rubber and even after you get used to flat soles, these special flat soles are too hard/unyielding to use on sidewalks. I regret the purchase and do not recommend it. First Review: While checking this one, I found another review that said the threads sewn into the material

Pros
  • Convenient design for quick on and off
Cons
  • May not be suitable for overpronators or underpronators.

great shoes in my opinion

This was the first pair of Xero shoes I bought. Hiking with them was fantastic. I had pain in my knees while hiking among ordinary tourists. After using the Terra Flex shoes a few times, there was no more post-hike pain. My legs feel stronger. The best shoes I've ever worn. In addition, the processing quality is very good.

Pros
  • Minimalist style for a comfortable and natural feel
Cons
  • Limited toe room

I wear a size 13 in Merrell Trail Glove 4. I wear a size 12 in Converse. dressed and not undressed. However, having personally tested the style, I'm going to try the Xero Mesa Trails at 14. The exposed straps are an issue since I do trail runs from time to time. And I'm not a fan of this style. I'm also considering trying the Altra Lone Peak 6, but my concern is that it has a stack height of 25mm (feet to floor) versus 11.5mm on the Merrell Trail Glove or 12mm on the Xero. Mesa Trail.

Pros
  • Ideal for people who spend a lot of time outdoors
Cons
  • May not be suitable for patients with Morton's neuroma.

The second pair of Xeros is the best in my rating

I've been wearing Xero Prios for 6 months now and was looking for something with more outsole protection. After an unsuccessful experiment with Merrell Trail Gloves, I took them. I like the thicker sole for daily dog walks and don't mind the slightly less ground feel. However, they suit shorter and narrower hair than the Prios. People with normal feet could probably go up a half size, but I have a Sasquatch 14 and 14.5 doesn't exist.

Pros
  • Helps prevent and reduce injuries
Cons
  • May cause ankle pain

form and function. - my new rating

You don't always have to choose between form and function, I know it's a cliché, but these shoes are the most comfortable shoes I've ever worn on my feet. I also have the high-top version, which is a bit more functional with its waterproofing as you can step into deeper puddles, but low-top shoes are more comfortable.

Pros
  • Ideal for trail running, hiking and other outdoor activities
Cons
  • Limited ventilation

If it suits Fred, it suits me.

Amazing shoes! I have a Fred Flintstone 13 in size 4E. I only use them as hiking shoes. I used to wear timp 1.0 and found the Terra Flex to be the best replacement. Slightly wider than Zero Trail Mesa.

Pros
  • Provides a good ground for best performance
Cons
  • May not be suitable for people with bones

Know before you buy (but the feedback is positive)

The Xero Shoe website says some of their shoes run small, but the model I bought (TerraFlex) had to be adjusted to fit. I do not agree. I bought US Men's 10 but the toe box is tight on the left side. If anyone is thinking of buying this shoe I would recommend going one size larger than usual. This also means that shoes that Xero says are smaller should be ordered *two* sizes larger. Also, by design, there is no bow support. I love that this shoe is made for walking, but I wouldn't try it for…

Pros
  • Provides excellent grip on uneven surfaces
Cons
  • May not provide enough support for lateral movement

Don't hesitate like me. my favorite shoes

I ordered my actual size but the label said it was half a size larger. So far they fit perfectly. I already knew this could happen from all the reviews. I was afraid to order, thinking I wouldn't find the right size. I've had them for about three weeks. My favorite shoe of all time. I plan to buy more and different types of Xero shoes because they fit my feet so well. I can't be happier with my purchase.

Pros
  • Lightweight design for faster movements
Cons
  • Can cause toe pain

Great minimalist shoes!

I love Terraflex! Got them running in snowy and rainy weather in Wisconsin to improve traction and so far they've worked as intended.

Pros
  • Great shoes. A bit pricey but worth it.
Cons
  • Not suitable for cold weather or wet conditions

Don't buy the best in my rating

So my wife bought me these shoes for the holidays as she loves this product. I enjoy them myself on some hikes, but on hike #6 the right sole came off the boot. I have emailed the company twice but have not received any contact yet. These shoes are said to have a 5000 mile guarantee and I'll see if I can get a new pair or exchange.

Pros
  • No break-in period required
Cons
  • Limited stability

Great zero fit shoes!

Great shoes with no fit. I have been a martial artist most of my life and these shoes fit my feet perfectly. An added bonus is that my knee pain is gone...

Pros
  • Easy to pack and slip into your backpack or duffel bag
Cons
  • May cause blisters or irritation

Impressively. Simply. Comfortable. Cool.

They're not cheap, but they're amazing. They are light and very comfortable and look very cool. The best hiking shoes I've ever had.

Pros
  • Offers excellent foot protection
Cons
  • Can cause knee pain
