I think it's ok for DIYers like me. It's a little thin and doesn't fit. Lightweight plastic. The viewing window is really good. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone who welds a lot. I would love to try welding with a quality helmet just to see the difference. I could see around the steel but it was very difficult to see the puddle.

I liked this helmet initially so I could start my journey of learning to weld. After a short period of use, the fasteners that keep the helmet upright fail. So if I lift the hood all the way up, it lowers with the slightest movement. I tried to fix/adjust it but to no avail. I'm going to buy a new welding helmet now. I would not recommend this helmet.

This hood is very beneficial. The straps are very adjustable. I recommend removing the straps from the helmet shell to get the perfect fit. It requires fine-tuning, but it's well worth the extra effort. It has three settings for welding, cutting and grinding. They work great and I use these features on a daily basis. Some people prefer to have these handles on the inside, but I think it's more convenient on the outside. That way I can just turn it on without taking off my gloves.

I've just started welding. Indeed this week and I can't imagine what the more expensive hoods have to offer that this one doesn't have. It has adjustable sensitivity and dimming delay, as well as a weld or grind setting. While I bought a welder's hat to wear, this hood is so comfortable I didn't even need it. I have no real complaints about the helmet as long as it lasts. The helmet was used for about an hour every weekday and not treated with due care. Lasted from 7/2020 to 02/2021. The lens was great. It's huge and has a very good view. The headband felt cheap, and it proved true when it broke after 6 months of use. Shortly after the headband failed, the electronics failed and the lens went dark all the time, which is actually the number one cause of the failure. The new battery didn't revive him.

I would describe myself as a "serious hobby welder". I have 4 welding helmets and this is my favorite. It's comfortable and works perfectly. It's so easy to see through the untinted glass that sometimes I forget it's down and keep working. It never gets dark when it shouldn't (like when I'm looking at the sun).
