and it has a nice heavy duty latch so you don't accidentally close yours.

The knife came sharp for shaving and has a good heavy lock to not accidentally snap on your fingers. The nickel plating isn't the best, but the knife is definitely better than many others you see on the market.

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design
Cons
  • I won't say anything

What's happening?

If you want to see how others live in the world of knives, get one of these. This is a knife with a stamped and bent steel handle and a carbon steel blade that offers excellent sharpness. It is very thin, so it fits in almost every pocket. I think that's a good deal for the price.

Pros
  • Dope 🔥
Cons
  • Vulgarity

Excellent knife from this series.

Probably my favorite in the Douk-Douk family. I like the blade style but would like to see a black handle version. It has all the qualities you would expect from a douk-douk. Very strong rear spring. I really like all versions of this knife. These are great little knives.

Basic and simple is why Squirrel works so well.

The fit and finish won't compare to your $200 folder, but you'll never be afraid to use the Squirrel for real knife work. Slim and no more than 3.5 inches (closed length), the squirrel goes unnoticed in the front pocket of jeans. Mine had to do a bit of work to get the sharpness of the knife I like, but that's not unexpected for any knife. A stiff rear spring with a strong half-stop - the Squirrel is definitely a two-handed knife (open or closed) - which is fine with me as I prefer old-style…

Pros
  • Inspires trust
Cons
  • The list will be long.

Raw product and overpriced

Wow! Thing is rough. All stamped metal, uncomfortable to hold, difficult to open. The handle is poorly chromed, with hundreds of pits. It's uncomfortable to watch. Looks like what you'll find in a $20 survival kit. The blade is pretty good. Moderately sharp, can be improved. And finally, the inflated price of $29. There are many knives at Revain for $20 or less that are better. I can imagine a factory where they are stamped and thrown away by the thousands in a huge box. You can just leave it…

Pros
  • Few competitors
Cons
  • Unreliable

OTHER French work knife

Those familiar with French pocket knives know the Opinel knives, which are great knives at a price any worker can afford. This is an example of another high quality French working knife, the Squirrel (L'Ecureuil) by M. Cognet, maker of the famous "Douk-Douk". While Duk-Duk and its variants (El Baraka, Tiki) are mostly sold in former French colonies like Algeria and Polynesia, Squirrel was sold in France itself. The squirrel features a spear-shaped carbon steel blade and a curved steel handle…
