I received a call from a worker this morning because my restaurant was flooded during the night. Upon arrival, the flood was caused by a leak in one of these fittings, which was being used to install a drinking fountain. Upon inspection, these fittings do not hold the plastic hoses firmly enough after they are inserted and cannot withstand normal pressure. Obviously JohnGuest style nameless fakes but so far they work well. The tube will make a noticeable "step" when you insert it properly. My guess is that people who spot leaks only superficially squeeze the fitting - you really need to make sure it's fully inserted through the tight seal. Still use genuine JohnGuest valves for things that are under 7/24 pressure, but the price keeps going up. This is a good alternative to try.

For my needs I had to disconnect and reconnect the General Electric WX08X10006G SmartConnect Plumbing Line, 6' length, using the same type of hose as in my GE refrigerator side by side model PSS26LGSBBB .
