Since used on chick brooders with clamp brood lamp reflector sold by Revain. It's great to have a thermometer - it's easy to determine how far the lamp needs to be from newborn chicks to maintain the correct air temperature. The chicks seem very happy and take turns eating and sleeping! I'm not sure if this would work with a dimmer to reduce the heat, otherwise I'd have to increase the distance to lower the temp in the incubator later.

I have no complaints about this product. I ordered chickens from California and made a brooder at home. I ordered a separate brood lamp rated at 150W max. This 100W bulb emits heat without light. Which is what I wanted. This way the chickens will sleep when everyone else is sleeping. A thermometer with battery is included in delivery. They do what they have to do. These are good value for money as they last a long time. However, they are not UL listed, so they are cheap. Cheap isn't always better. If you plug them into a socket, they generate very strong electromagnetic fields that are harmful to your health! I don't think anyone should go for the cheaper option with foreign cheap electronics. I have a 12 year old 7.5 foot Oriental Indigo (red phase) snake. I'm so sick of those heat lamps that blow out every few months. They also claim they're infrared, but you could still see some of the visible red light, which wasn't ideal. I came across these heating elements and am very happy with them.
