Type of review

These articulated bolts did the trick for connecting the angled portions of my custom 6910 handrail. That said, it would have been good to have access to more comprehensive and detailed instructions for how to use and finesse these for handrails with lots of curves and angles that need to turn out perfectly. Even with me doing mock-ups and building jigs to assist with boring and alignment before actually installing, it was a challenge with standard hand tools.

Pros
  • The angled handrail to newel post connector ensures safety and stability
Cons
  • Poor material selection leads to excessive weight

Great Idea TERRIBLE Quality Caveat Emptor!

The materials and quality are terrible! The nut mechanism strips easily even when tightening by hand. The actual threads are proprietary and you can't find a nut to replace the poorly made one. Wasted an afternoon on these! It's a great idea just very poor craftsmanship! Don't buy unless you want to add stress to your project trying to remove a stripped nut from a proprietary bolt causing you to lose an afternoon and more money!

Pros
  • The product has been tested and proven to deliver exceptional results and meet high-quality standards
Cons
  • Not compatible with all types of newel posts

Great design, quality could be better

Was fairly easy to install and works great. But wasn’t able to tighten all the way in because the hinge was coming apart when screwing it into the newel post. Quality could have been a little better on the ball bearing hinge since you have to use that to twist the bolt in. If it broke off there wouldn’t be an easy way to get it out.

Pros
  • Angled staircase railbolt for secure connection at acute angles
Cons
  • Does not hold up well against harsh chemicals or cleaners

Easy to use in my review

Very easy to use… saves installation time…. very pricing… I wish they came in singles too… I needed only one… so the other one is wasted

Pros
  • Can be used for both indoor and outdoor handrail installations
Cons
  • Not suited for heavy duty commercial use

Soft metal best in my review

Work well. Just be VERY careful when installing. The metal is soft and can twist easily. Use grease and another bolt to pre "Bore” it, especially into hardwood.

Cons
  • Risk of the connector snapping during use

A bit tricky at first

You Absolutely MUST follow the very clear instructions before cutting any part of the rail.A bit tricky to prepare and install (I am not a carpenter but I’m learning) once mastered though it’s pretty easy and the bolt and a little wood glue make the joint quite sturdy. I am impressed with the cleverness of this simple system.

Pros
  • Suitable for both residential and commercial use
Cons
  • Requires additional reinforcement for heightened security

While it seems like a good idea, only recommend for new construction. My original handrail was toe nailed to the newel post and came undone. I thought this would be the ticket, but realized once I bought it and opened it that once you screw the lag bolt end into the post, it would be impossible to get the other end into a hole drilled into end of handrail without ripping opposite end of handrail off wall, creating an entirely new problem. Would have liked to have this system work without…

Pros
  • ‎External Hex
Cons
  • Not durable enough for long term use

Recommended, but be careful.

well, it's a handy little kit. But it is not as strong as I thought it would be. I installed in solid oak, was turning in using the bolt itself as leverage and as indicated in the instructions, and it snapped. I could not get these locally, so I bought a comparably sized bolt and used a dremel tool and drill press to fabricate the broken part. Unfortunately, it is forever in the post so I can't admire my on the spot fabrication work! So, Consider drilling the pilot a touch big. The instructions

Pros
  • Durable construction for heavy-duty applications
Cons
  • Non-eco friendly product

My contractor loved them.

Easy to use, just triple check your measurements. Be cautious about spacing between the cam and where your first or last balusters fall.

Pros
  • ‎11.560
Cons
  • Non-standard size can limit use in certain applications
