Works best in reptiles and amphibians

Reluctantly bought this item to prevent the metal nipples on my automatic rabbit waterer from thawing. The cable works great. Keeps up to 6 feet warm and works as expected. It's been running for over a month now. Used in unheated barn in Michigan during winter.

The title of this product is '. Cable, length 11.5 inches. The seller doesn't seem to know the standard terminology for abbreviations for inches and feet, because it's not 11.5 inches, it's 11.5 feet! If the latter is what you want, great, but I've been looking for a very short heating cable and it definitely isn't.

Perfect for my needs!

I wasn't sure based on other reviews. I am very pleased! I have this cord to keep my ant warm, I also have a small temperature sensor on the cord so I can monitor the temperature. The cable maintains temperatures between 75 and 90 degrees Fahrenheit. In fact, only the last 3 inches of the cable gets hot. I thought it was too much for my needs but it works really well!

Works well, great and heats up fast

I bought this heating cable for the height of my leopard gecko rack. I plugged it in and it started heating up straight away, I can hold the cord in my hand and it doesn't really burn. I use large clear plastic Iris shoeboxes with pre-drilled ventilation holes and a front opening door. The bottom of the boxes is about 3/4 inch above the cable itself and heat still flows well through them. This maintains a constant and correct temperature in the baths.
