Exactly what I need

Glad I found this. You seem unattainable. I use this in combination with a hot pad that I place a cup of water on to warm up my snakes' dinner. It's perfect for this type of use. I can easily heat your food to 100 degrees. I don't know why they are so hard to find, but if you find them, you better take them. Can never find one again.

Doesn't work at all

I bought this because my snake's heating pad got too hot at 103. Switched it to medium, medium-low, no temperature change. I've been freaking it out and it's dropped to 99 every 4 degrees. After running it for about 2 weeks tonight my temps are showing 103 again and it should be on the lowest possible setting. I'm sending it back because it just didn't work.

Very disappointed with this product

Very disappointed with this product. I bought this rheostat along with a UTH heating pad for my 20 gallon terrarium. I bought this because I accidentally got a 30-40 gallon heating pad. To compensate for the higher wattage, I figured it would help me set the temp the way I wanted. I set each of the three settings low, medium and high for 6 hours each and the temperature didn't change a single degree!

Good job you burned your house down.

Spectacular failure after 6 months. I woke up to the smell of burning electronics, the smell of "mysterious blue smoke" as some call it. Anyway, when I searched my house, I found it smoldering next to my Bredli Python's shell, leaving a nice trail on the cupboard it was sitting on. Now I keep throwing away the one I have for my bearded dragon. Took it apart and found a lot of exposed connectors/solder joints. This thing looks like a giant fire hazard protected by a thin layer of brittle…

BROKEN IN THE FIRST MONTH

I used this with the Zoo Med Large under the tank heater. Broke within the first month of use! My sister called me and asked if it was okay that the snake's temperature had dropped to 68 degrees, when it's usually over 90 degrees. I was away and to this day I don't know how long they stayed without heating. I was humiliated. I bought it to make sure it never gets too hot and it ended up being just the opposite. I returned it and thankfully Revain gave me a full refund (rare, thanks Revain!). I…

newbie here. love this product!

First let me confess. When my 8W Zoo med heating pad was only half plugged in. Print. So I thought why isn't the plug included? (Sooooo blonde and also a rookie reptile). So yes, insert the plug and it hits the metal, but you have to insert the plug the first time. She will enter! rzunimag. Now for the rating! I use them with the small 8 watt Zoo-Med heating pad that sits outside on the floor of my custom vivariums. I keep Tessera Corn Snakes. I started on LOW and selected SLOW while taking the

Excellent article on heat lamps and terrarium mats

I have never bought a rheostat in my life. I bought 2 because I was concerned that if one breaks from the start or something goes wrong I'll have a backup right away. My daughter uses this for her hedgehog enclosure. Before we bought this we used an old oil heater which I think has seen the days of the dinosaurs. We hooked up a radiant heater and then played with the temperature a bit until we got it where it should be. That works great. We didn't have to wiggle the connectors to connect…
