It's just great. good for tools and equipment

perfect. Torque the springs on my W116 about a dozen times. It used to be a terrible job, now it's painless. I could do it drunk and with my eyes closed. You may need to drill a center hole in the spring bar, but this device is great. Spring compression doesn't have to be bad. Spend your money and don't fool around lol.

Pros
  • also understandable for old people
Cons
  • very expensive

W124 Spring Compression Tool Right

Worked well on my 1995 E320 to replace the stock springs with H&R lowering springs. I wouldn't call it an easy task, but it helps make it as easy as possible. I ended up using smaller plates on both the front and rear springs. I found a lot of worn bushings doing this, so this tool will come in very handy when I need to remove the springs to replace most of the suspension components.

Pros
  • Great for outdoor activities
Cons
  • So-so

Vacuum! at Steering and Suspension Tools

If you want to repair the suspension of an old Mercedes, this tool is a must. I've tried a few different approaches on my 420 SEL and I'm lucky to be alive. Even with the right tools, the W126 springs are HUGE and deserve a lot of respect. This style of spring compressor has also been reviewed on YouTube which I recommend checking out to see how all the kits fit together. Great price, good quality, works as advertised for its intended purpose.

Pros
  • Nice to use
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.

Hard tool but not polished

This product is very strong and heavy which is required for this type of work. Nice case that fits everything. Removing the spring on my Benz worked great, but only after I took the center shaft apart and filed and sanded it a bit to get it turning properly. The stem uses ACME/Sq threads and on my unit it would have stuck about 2/3 of the way, preventing the spring from fully compressing. Also, the trilobed tip had very rough cast edges that would not go through the holes in the spring plateโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Fits many
Cons
  • Difficult to say

Works as advertised!

I bought this tool for ONE job - I was doing front lower control arm bushings on our 2002 E320. Whether you're just replacing the bushings like I did (and I'm not sure I would do it again) or replacing the new LCAs with the bushings already installed, you'll need to compress the springs. This is a replica of a factory Mercedes Benz spring compressor that sells for over $600. But I'd say it works just as well as a factory tool; After compressing the spring, I was able to remove the springโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Confident
Cons
  • Not sure
