New machine, new key for Assenmacher Filter.

When I buy a new car, the first two stops are all-weather floor mats and an oil filter wrench (if I don't have the right size). I have one of the cheapest stamped metal filter kits and it's junk. They tend to slide along the filter housing around the corners. This one doesn't rotate. The right tool for the job.

PERFECT for my 2008 Sprinter

Thanks to other reviewers who mentioned using this on a Sprinter. I bought this to replace the oil filter on my 2008 Dodge Sprinter 2500. A 7/8 head is required for a hex nut. I didn't have it. However, I only used a wrench and the torque was transferred to the filter very well. No wrestling moves were required. Happy customer!

Suitable but not suitable for me.

MB 3L Diesel As others have pointed out it fits but not tight. My oil filter cap was screwed on too tightly so I can't get it off with this tool. Instead, it will flap and spin. Also note that the product I received is slightly different from the picture and has no hole in the middle. You will also need a 7/8 socket adapter to use this tool.

Works great as expected, only comment is the price

Works great as expected, only comment is the price. There are other options that are cheaper and almost as nice, but for a product that won't wear out, I'm happy with them. It was the only size I was looking for. For the money it's totally worth it and way better than metal ratchet straps. Removes 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee 3.0L CRD oil filter cover.

Disappointed with special tool

oil filter wrench designed for my 2016 Sprinter; However, the fit is so loose and sloppy that installation is difficult due to the key sticking and sticking both during installation and removal. It was difficult to unscrew the key from the oil filter. Also, the fit is not sufficiently toleranced such that when turning the wrench there is approximately 1/4 inch of free play before the surfaces of the wrench engage the filter. Not what I expected from what should be quality, something special…

The right tool for the job

We have a Sprinter based motorhome and I prefer to do the basic maintenance myself. I looked for something less expensive and tried a strap wrench, a cheaper box wrench set, a regular oil filter wrench and my bare hands. Due to the tightness around the oil filter, I couldn't use a handle wrench, and other box wrenches just didn't fit properly. I learned my lesson: buy the right tool the first time and it will be cheaper in the long run. This tool worked great and saved you the trouble of…

Too expensive for this quality!

I have to agree that this is a must for changing the oil filter on a Mercedes 3L Diesel. As far as I know this is the only wrench available and it does the job. However, I was disappointed that the "rough" cast key did not have the 3/8" square shank found in most keys of this type. Wrench sets end at 13/16", while their cheaper 74mm wrench has a regular 3/8" square drive socket. I only paid $20 but some establishments sell this key for $60. They just seem proud of a key that lacks standard…

I finally gave up. Oil Filter Wrench

I have a 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee with a MB 3.0L Turbo Diesel. I've been struggling with the filter cover with various tools for the last few oil changes. I chose to use a large strap wrench for the filter with a rubber seal so as not to damage the plastic cover. This worked fine a couple of times. During the last oil change, my self-made tool "broke" broke. Went to the local "Made in China" tool shop (port freight) and looked for oil filter bushings - they put that size in parentheses so it…
